That shield with the CN Tower wouldn't be a horribad logo in the unlikely event that the city ever receives an NFL franchise. Messing with the Leafs primary colour scheme is a non-starter in terms of design though.
 
Remember when they had our Blue Jay ready for a rumble with pumped up biceps? Seriously, not only are all these new logos ugly, they will be horribly dated in 5 years when design trends change.

Classics are classics for a reason.

That's whats so bizarre about this.....the Leafs current logo/font is very in-style with modern aesthetics......it's a perfectly minimalist logo, with a Wes Anderson-esque, Futura-like, Kabel font......it's the kind of logo you would expect a top graphic designer to come up with for a franchise like this, if they had an old outdated logo that required modernization.

But, I've seen this before in my career. Some head of marketing gets bored with their job or gets scared they're not doing enough, so they initiate an unnecessary project, seeking applause and validation.

Oh trust me, that's distinctly MLSE to a tee. You guys think it's bad in terms of the corporate environment of this organization, with an outsider's perspective? I've seen asinine decisions made for the sake of corporate doublethought that would make your head spin.
 
Yeah but what are they doing? A totally new jersey that will take them for this season and going forward? Or a couple of 100th anniversary designs inspired by the past that they trot out for a few games? I definitely prefer the latter. This is about the team's history, celebrate the history with a historic look, not something new IMO.

I know they are just fan concepts, but something new has the potential to be god awful.. and has the potential to screw up a classic.

You have some classic looks in those old jerseys... just use those... the 67 one... the 33 one... the 1926 one.... the St. Pats... the Arenas.... pick 3 or 4 and do the classic jersey thing for your original 6 matchups and some other games.
 
Probably both. But lets be honest here, they aren't putting a CN Tower, or Leaf Monster on the jersey, or changing the colours from blue and white. Any changes will be minimal just like they have been for the last 100 years. Over the last decade they've gone through 3 different jerseys, 5 if you include third jerseys. Its not like its some 100 year old jersey that has never been changed. The current version of the Leafs jersey is 2-3 years old.

Embarrassed i understood this a little.
 
I'm fine with the jerseys the way they are. I loved and bought the Winter Classic jersey and must say its my favourite of them all. If they made that the permanent logo or something similar i'd be good with it. I don't even mind the circle around the Leaf design but it's nothing to go crazy for.

I think they'd be fine adding a 100th season patch and call it a day.
