From what I've read, temps are basically a non-issue ... and remember, the ice is going to suck regardless. It's been awful for every one of these things I've ever watched. The worst was Lake Tahoe and that was 100% down to the sun, which is a non-issue here. Rain during play is the only real concern.

The Canes have released more details events surrounding the game. There was a lot of speculation about who would sing the National Anthem before the game. The answer is…us, at least sort of. The Anthem will be performed by the Power Sound of the South, the NC State Marching Band. They’ll also perform during player intros and during the 2nd intermission. The siren will be sounded by Erik Cole, Mike Commodore and Chad LaRose.

All sold out according to Ticketmaster. Not even a single seat. Plenty of very high priced resales.

Many folks thought the weather would alter ticket prices to drop but now the weather looks like a non issue so it looks like unless you have people sitting on too many extras and panic, the game will continue to be a sell out and a tough ticket.

I checked last night. There are a handful of resales available for under $250, mostly in the upper deck, but some in the shoot twice end zone.

This is, as far as I can recall, the first official mention of State's marching band being involved. SO happy about that.

He cancelled a concert to go to a UNC Final Four game last spring. I don’t know if he’s a Canes fan, but the team did use one of his songs several years ago.

I mean, can we all just acknowledge how terrible the NHL has been at booking music acts for these things? OK. Done. Now, this guy may have a nice slot on the official billboard for crappy, soulless, modern Nashville pap, but ... do you really think they were going to get someone cool? OK good. B-list Nashville hack is right in the middle of the bell curve for the NHL. At least it's not 3 Doors Down or Big Bad Voodoo Daddies.

That said, they'd have been better off just doing what I suggested in the first place and letting Merge Records (an actual local music label) curate the music ... especially given that one of Merge's directors is a Canes season ticket holder. Yeah, they're an Indy label. So what? You want cool? That would have been cool, and it would have been real deal local.

On the upside ... State's marching band is going to be there and that's awesome. I'll take the Ws where I can.
