More Stadium Series Tix Released-General Stadium Thread

Anyone want to take a stab at how this STM on-field/ice experience drawing will work in reality? My ticket rep Stephen is out this afternoon, so I got a OOO reply.

The text from the entry page is a bit confusing - it says "OR" and "cannot be entered for both":
"Full Season Ticket Members* can enter their account to be selected to skate on the ice at Carter-Finley OR take an on-field photo. *STMs cannot be entered for both experiences."

when the entry fields have "both" as an option, and allow you to pick timeslots for each:

I understand it's saying you can't DO both, so I'd first like to be considered for on-ice skating, but if I don't "win" that, I'd take the photo opportunity. How do I represent that on the form without having it interpret my response as "don't care which" (when I'd REALLY rather skate) Gotta feeling that's not an option.

He cancelled a concert to go to a UNC Final Four game last spring. I don’t know if he’s a Canes fan, but the team did use one of his songs several years ago.

Well, he’s not a huge hockey fan, but he does watch and is a Canes fan. That being said, he told me he wasn’t asked.

Not shocking. I'd bet a significant amount that the NHL promotions people contacted a booking agent in Nashville and told them to book a country act with no specificity. Nobody in the league offices has any real grasp on the market and I can absolutely guarantee nobody in the office is from here. The only time they screw around and do anything vaguely authentic with these events is when they happen to have people involved who understand the market. Otherwise it's always ... hey, you guys like country music in "Carolina", right?

This ain't Nashville man! Sigh....
That's the point. To the NHL office in New York, they're the same thing. The South is a homogeneous region with no regional distinctions to their PR people. That much is blindingly obvious. Just like Florida = Miami Beach (and Miami Beach can be reduced to South Beach). If they ever end up with a franchise in Houston, the NHL will 100% market it the same way they do Dallas. One of the problems with Atlanta as a market was that the NHL treated it as a generic Southern city. The pesky fact that Atlanta is more like DC as a market than it is like Raleigh or Nashville probably still hasn't occurred to them.

I must admit...I was kinda hoping that Darius Rucker and maybe even all of Hootie stayed over the extra night and did a little something between periods as part of the game...that would have made too much sense I guess.

Scene inside the NHL headquarters:

"What music are we going to have for the intermissions?"
"I don't know. Country music? They like that kind of stuff in Raleigh-Durham, Carolina, right?"
"Yeah, get a bunch of Nascar guys to wave green flags too. They love that shit there."

Aaand scene.

What's the deal with your Fan Fest plans on Friday? Looks like the festivities start at 11:00 AM. Superchunk is playing at 7:00!

Who's going?
What time will you be there?
What time will you be departing?
Why are all of you a bunch of ding-dongs?

The weather looks like it's going to be kinda hairy for a bit on Friday morning, but after the cool front moves past early afternoon, it will be chilly and clear.

I'm not gonna be able to make Fan Fest after all. Just too many moving parts in life right now.

That is just another workday for me. I'm not taking a day off to participate in any of what is going on Friday. Fam is too busy Friday night to care.

I type that now, but my oldest daughter might decide last second that she wants to go.

They overlapped Hootie with the night time Fan Fest activities (not going to that either). Hopefully they get the crowds they expect at Fan Fest on a rainy Friday during the day. Would help if that was actually a holiday.

We're going Friday, but unknown yet when and what our plans are. Took the day off so we could be a part of "it", whatever "it" turns out to be, but we also have other personal to-do's that will break up the day no matter how we plan it. :(

We’ll be at the FanFest at some point but will be bugging out early for a family dinner with my kids and their significant others. Look for a fat guy pushing a wheelchair.

The wife and I got invited to a VIP reception hosted by PNC during the Fan Fest, which we should be at between 3PM and 5PM. Then, I'm hoping to connect with some of my beer league teammates to spend the rest of the Fest and the rest of the evening downtown. If anyone organizes a ForumIce meet-up, I should be able to stop by.

The seat backs are rented from a 3rd party vendor. They do multiple college stadiums. They usually get removed at the end of the season and put back after fans order for the next season. They are ‘rented’ season to season and aren’t permanent
At Carter Finley, the red seat cushion/back/contraptions are only replaced when they start to fade (or start to hold water) and are purchased season to season through the Wolfpack Club. They also have a third party vendor, but those black seat-backs are portable and rented only for game day. So, it's a little different than the normal setup.

And yes, the Wolfpack Club took them all out for the Stadium Series game, which is actually a blessing since it's all but impossible to read the seat numbers with the semi-permanent cushion thingies in place. Plus, since they are optional, their placement is erratic.
