New Canadian Politics Thread

I'm going to toss first nations communities onto the list of people who care more about freedom and sovereignty than money and the economy, along with the UK and Quebec seperatists.

Willing to shut down the Canadian economy for over a week, and have managed to avoid being rushed by the police, they have my respect.

I'm not going to address whether or not he has anything resembling a point. But if you're going to choose that opinion to project, he chose the absolute worst way to do it. It's equal parts cringy, tone deaf, and ignorant. If there's one racial group in Canada that has legitimate gripes with the government and society down racial lines, it's the Natives. His pot shot at "woke" language comes off as pretty racially insensitive once you peel back half a layer.

It is somewhat disturbing how Canadians, realizing the legitimate gripes that first nations have, have decided that they are willing to flirt with a recession, supply shortages and layoffs in order to not deal with it.

I'm going to toss Canadians as a whole in the group of people who care more something than the economy, in this case not invoking another Oka crisis.

Interesting that pretty much all rail traffic in eastern canada is shut down, costing the economy somewhere around 850 million dollars a day, yet it generates very little in terms of posts about it.

Same people who go on and on about how brexit will cost the british economy and how that is the most important thing about that debate.

Hypocrisy?

Oh come on now Zekie.

The canadian economy has been ground to a halt(growth forecast down to 0.3 from 1.6 for the quarter) due to the blocking of rail traffic, 850 million dollars of goods a day not moving, days away from propane, food, and supply shortages, layoffs already happening and more to come, and forumice, a good chuck of us Canadians have had a collective Meh response to it.

And if the economy takes a backseat to first nations relations, that's fine. I can get behind that. Some things matter more than money, like getting reconciliation right, avoid bloodshed and continuing to treat first nations like second class citizens.

I just don't want to hear it from brexit opponents who go on and on about the economic cost of brexit when they cannot even be bothered to care/post about 850 million dollars of damage a day to the Canadian economy.

But please, don't let me distract you from posting tweets about the most important issues of the day, Trump stuff.

Fyi: next time you want to start a conversation, try not to open it up with a ludicrous and laughable attempt to call everyone hypocrites.
