I'd be more interested in knowing why they disapprove of their government's handling of the pandemic.

How many people who think Covid's fake or being taken too seriously by their government are included in that number?

Also, LOL at Quebec. 60% approval of Legault's handling of Covid. Good god.

Atlantic premiers deserve their grades. Obviously far from perfect, but they’ve done well to keep outbreaks under control and maintain a reasonable quality of life

I think the population’s opinion is not based solely on the outbreaks numbers as they do not depict the whole portrait of the pandemic.

The bad timing of travellers coming back from spring break earlier than the rest of Canada, combined with terrible outbreaks in senior’s residences early on made it so that the virus was more present in Quebec from the get go.

Legault showed tremendous crisis management skills with decisive actions, and great leadership by bringing popular public personalities and athletes to spread messages of prevention early on.

He was praised by every opposition parties in the first months, a rare feat in Quebec, that saw his approval rate top the country.

It was far from perfect and mistakes were made over times, like the early re-opening of elementary schools in May for example.

But it seemed the population was already more comfortable with Legault’s management, as he looked more in control and effective than Justin Trudeau who paled in comparison out of the gates in March.

The public opinion also backed Legault when Trudeau refused his request to extend the Canadian Army’s soldiers deployment in Quebec’s elder residences.

About that, the amount of people who died in senior residences in the spring was a big tragedy in Quebec.

The way they died and suffered, alone, without food and workers to tend to their needs was a shock.

Those failures were the results of years of negligence in the healthcare system.

Legault recognize that, and immediately created a program for 10 000 people to be paid 21$/hour to be trained to work in elders residences. They would then get 26$/hour jobs at the end of the training.

Many felt compelled to answer the call of the premier and to help the people in need.

There was a lot of buzz in the province about this mini society project as it also represented paid training followed by good income for a lot of people in need of jobs.

I did not follow the whole news cycle of the pandemic as I felt the need to tune it out at certain periods, but with the informations I have been exposed too, I would also lean towards approval of the Quebec Government’s overall performance in handling COVID.

Yeah that's why I'm not as worried about those who refuse to go in for the second dose. By all accounts, this was the case from the beginning and any protection works for me. I'm way more concerned about those who refuse to get the first dose.

venezuela is a shithole of maduro and chavez's making that people have been desperate to escape for years.

I was being charitable. It is gobsmacking to see the calluous disregard for the massive suffering inflicted on the Venezuelan people by the barbaric sanctions people like you support.

My understanding is that the second does is needed to extend the strength and probable length of time of immunity. At present there doesn’t seem much information on how long the immunity lasts.

Oh yeah no doubt that the second dose is crucial. I'm just speaking about the folks who do not return for the second dose. It's not ideal, but not quite a disaster. Even just the single dose helps get us towards herd immunity.

oh man. I really hope the hill you pick to die on is the “Venezuela’s elections are free and fair” one.

I’m not arguing that Chavez was not legitimately elected either, in case that needs spelling out.
