New Canadian Politics Thread

They have a floor at 30%ish and will continue to dominate rural ridings, including several east of Manitoba.
If they let the Garnett Geniuses, Denise Batters' and Andrew Scheer's drive the bus the CPC will never win a seat where it matters, in the population-dense corridor between Windsor and Quebec City or in the BC Lower Mainland. And if they don't win there it won't matter how many rural backwaters they carry. There simply aren't enough fascists to go around.

If a palace coup over conversion therapy and Andrew Scheer getting re-installed as party leader (even on an interim basis) doesn’t cause the “moderate” wing of the party to finally seek a divorce from the religious nutjobs, I don’t know what will.

Seems to me, as it has for a number of years, that their best path forward is to re-form the PC party and then throw their support behind ranked balloting.

I appreciate that they turned this whole thing into an even better clownshow than I was expecting. Had they been able to keep from being the twats that they are for a few days, it would have been bad for the rest of us and middle class white people would have started leaning a bit harder into all of this shit. From my anecdotal conversations with middle class white people over the last few days, this is pure poison to them.

Yeah, at least in Edmonton (which is a government and university town) the reaction to last Saturday's redneck renaissance fair downtown has mostly gotten a thumbs down from the people I've spoken with at the office, especially those who live close enough that they had to listen to the honking horns all day.
