New Canadian Politics Thread

I'm always cautious in feeding into racial hatred. I feel Canada is doing a shockingly poor job of doing that right now.
For instance, this "Diversity Hiring" stuff of out of hand and causing hatred and anger. Everyone is equal, but Canada is not acting like that. Easy to say don't think of the angry racists, but I think you do for safety. There's some horrible messages being sent out right now.

When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
I don't know if we are doing equality now. Or at least not portraying it as such. We can make everyone equal while still not angering the village idiots. That's my concern. No need to feed the mob. I don't want to live in fear of them, but want to be smart about this. These fuckers can't get hired anyways, so they ruin their privilage.

Probably not. They're village idiots for a reason. People that suck at life always look for an excuse for their suckage. The pandemic nonsense is a whole other thing.

and we all saw it coming. ugh. guess I should be glad I live in NS... (not actually re healthcare though... I see the problems errry day with my clients. I swear there are like two neurologists in the whole province and one of them doesn't believe in concussions and you have to wait a year to see them anyhow...)

I still blame the liberals for running Uncle Chester last election.

Don't get me wrong, idiots in this province should have held their noses and booted Dougie regardless, but I understand why people who vote for premier the same way they voted for class president, would struggle to elect that creepy looking fuck.

also not sure anyone has discussed it but Ford is basically preparing to gut city councils of any power and elevate mayors onto a pseudo authoritarian pedestal with his 'strong mayor' BS.

that alone could be devastating in its own right. just think of what that would have meant when his brother was in power...

This is a #bothsides I can get behind.

Modern conservatives own all the blame for the evil shit they try and pull to tear down democracy and/or the social safety net.

But the Libs own the blame for being utterly incompetent in opposition to them.

I suspect this is also him laying the groundwork for another future Ford run at mayoralty in Toronto, where in the next go-round they’ll wield far more power.

Might be Doug himself that’ll run for it (though it seems more likely he’ll eventually try to move up into federal politics). Or it’ll be Michael Ford running for the job essentially on Doug’s behalf.

By far Ford's most effective policy enactment has been revenge on Toronto City Council.

It will be ironic if the people of Ontario who voted PC, and lose part of their healthcare, have to reach out to the federal Liberals for help.
