New Canadian Politics Thread

ironically, Richmond Hill, minus the dispensaries, is a helluva eyesore itself! and this is coming from someone who grew up there!

just strip malls and chains, for far too much of it.

Yeah, the idea that someone would think the aesthetic appeal of Richmond Hill of all places would be under attack from pot shops is hilarious to this dude that grew up in Richmond Hill.

That town is nothing but an endless sprawling wasteland of cookie-cutter subdivisions, massive parking lots, condos and the exact same SmartCentre plaza with the exact same 7-8 corporate chain stores/restaurants on all four corners of every major intersection.

And every time I go back there, it’s worse.

I was pleasantly surprised when I drove by there in the summer and saw that they were still there. Considering how unrecognizable the rest of that stretch of Yonge looks these days.

And I was even more surprised the vacuum store next door was still there looking like an unchanged time capsule from the 90’s. That’s gotta be a front for the mob. Or like the dude from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul.

It is, yeah. I went to school with one of the owners sons so I was Abbruzzo'd out by the time I reached 16.

Anyway, I love the Hill and what it has become and the market sure loves it too, which is the best arbiter of truth so I cannot respond to any accusations made in this thread because the facts speak for themselves. I also recognize that there will be varying opinions on every location in the planet so there is nothing to debate here. Have a lovely day.

Chow’s proposal to raise property taxes in order to cover a decade of budget shortfalls, plus asking Ottawa for increased funding to deal with Federally-approved refugees, has Toronto-area MPs fuming.

“What doesn’t Chow understand about the Canadian national motto – ‘Fuck Toronto’,” added Baker.

Across Ottawa, several Toronto-area MPs have echoed Baker’s frustration.

“Chow’s unreasonable demands to ‘help our constituents’ would really interfere with the Liberal strategy of coasting until Poilievre wins the next election and then disappearing into the private sector,” noted Scarborough-Rouge Park MP Gary Anandasangaree.

“How dare Chow try to raise property taxes,” exclaimed York South-Weston MP Ahmed D. Hussen. “She knows that’s where my investment properties are!”
