New Canadian Politics Thread

No way the Liberals pivot to electoral reform. The last thing in the world they want to do right now is make it so that people can safely vote for the NDP or Greens without fear of contributing to a Poilievre victory by doing so.
 
None of those things will matter with corps buy 40% of homes and builders wanting to toss up shitty million dollar 3 story town homes.
 
Everyone loves putting the burden on the municipalities but they are broke AF. If you want them to speed up permits they have to be able to afford planners.

while you're both technically accurate and correct, I don't think it matters. the average voter is unlikely to appreciate this nuance. they just know they cannot afford a home or the mortgage payments on it. and see a guy who is claiming he will fix it using simplistic slogans.

Yeah, nobody at home knows who's in charge of what stuff. Same with blaming Trudeau for global inflation problems (housing prices are rising everywhere, not just Canada). But it sounds good, and hits people at an issue that impacts a lot of people.

JT gets the benefits - but also the disadvantages - of incumbency. this is one of them.

This is true. But I’m assuming CPC win so I’ve already moved on to the always very pleasant chats they’ll have with the provinces. 😏

you can be certain as soon as they take power, everything will be the fault of the provinces and municipalities, who they will tell us are the only ones who can fix things!
