I love how it's always the fault of the workers being paid too much. lol.

How about this instead...increase wages, causing companies to innovate and modernize (our automation rate compared to the US or Europe is crazy low)....thus increasing productivity. This increase in productivity leads to needing more, higher wage specialists (better jobs) and fewer lower paying jobs.

Low wages lead to low productivity because there's no incentive for businesses to invest in modernizing their processes.

Nice try. Tren Maya has guardia nacional officers on every train. These are likely to be the same.

Mexico is literally building 3400km of dedicated new track for passenger rail in the next 5 years. They're also building a bag load of rail for freight as part of their economic zone in the south to challenge the Panama canal.

Fucking Mexico, with all of their economic and corruption problems are building bigger projects to future proof their society than we are. We're looking at 2028-29 just for the design of the new Via high speed route to be completed. Just one ~500km route.

Metrolinx was smart enough to commission a study asking why they sucked so bad.

Something we need to kind of grasp is that private companies aren't designed to be "efficient" as a goal. They're designed to make money. If industries are hyper competitive and making money requires high levels of efficiency, companies in that space will adapt and become hyper efficient. But the efficiency is a side effect, not the core goal. If a company can be bloated and inefficient in delivering it's core competency but still turn over profits, it will keep doing that.

Private is not inherently efficient and Public is not inherently inefficient.

The last part of the article is the best though..

Can't reward our political donors if we do this, so it's not going to happen. The system functions as designed, as all systems do.

I think efficiency is the wrong word but there are so many self destruction events built into public sector culture that just don’t exist in the private sphere, which drive bureaucracy and cost.

To give two examples cost containment and zero base budgeting are effectively discouraged.

Also, public sector procurement rules are bananas, driving underbidding which Results in trade offs that are bad for both parties - contractors looking to pinch Pennies and govts left paying for inevitable change orders.

There is so much waste at the province. Just wait until they evaluate the soft costs of the next round of projects which were uploaded from the city just to start over again, but still have the city operate.

and the P3 model was just a disaster. You can’t shift all the risk on to the private sector and expect not to have to pay for it in the end.

Love this. Ban a whole bunch of guns, take them away from Freedumbers, then send the guns to Ukraine so they can be used to kill Russian orcs. I want those Freedumbers to know that their guns killed their fascist heroes from the Red Army.

He should claim that Pee-Pee wants Canada to be run by Modi just like he is.
I told you a year ago Trudeau is finished as a political threat. He might take the Liberals to fourth place. His final effect on the party might be worse than his dad's who at least was smart enough to make Turner take the fall. Joly, Carney would at least give them a change but JT's hubris will be his downfall.

I literally have no one to vote for next election other than a write in for the Bloc which spoils the ballot.

Jagmeet Jimmy Dhaliwal was saying he has seen too many old white men fail up. Define irony as he is a brown guy who has failed up.

We don’t agree on many things, but I’m with you on not having anyone to vote for federally when the writ drops

This sounds like those idiots in the States who couldn't bring themselves to vote for Harris. It's not hard and you don't need to love the candidate. You simply have to accept that one believes in democracy and one is trying to destroy it.

It's no different here. You don't have to love Trudeau, you merely need to accept that Poilievre poses a threat to democracy and is a foreign asset.
