I've struggled to understand what all the crying about "woke" is and why it is a bad thing.
No one who's ever complained about "woke" has ever explained to me what "woke" is.
My interpretation of "woke" is basically being aware of what's going on around you, is that not a correct assumption?
If not, educate me please.

The original meaning of “woke” among leftist activist types, as I understand it, meant that you are a person who is aware of and acknowledges structural inequalities in our society where minorities and women are concerned.
As for what “woke” means to all of the MAGA types and right-wing ragers that scream about it all the time—I don’t have any clear idea. Like I said, I’ve yet to find someone of that political stripe who can coherently articulate that to me.
As best as I understand it, they just use it as a generic, catch-all epithet for anything they personally don’t like, don’t understand or that makes them uncomfortable.
