New Canadian Politics Thread

Minister of indegeneous affairs on CTV struggling to respond to the question of whether Canada, as a signature of the prevention of genocide, will need to round up those responsible for the ongoing genocide of indegeneous people and bring them to justice.

Or whether the UN will need to show up and investigate claims of genocide. Or whether we will allow the Organization of American states, OAS to investigate this Canadian genocide.

This is going to poll well.

And Andrew Scheer is out clearly stating that while what happened to indigenous Canadians sucked, and was a tragedy, it is not a genocide.

Trudeau stepping back from genocide to cultural genocide.

While I acknowledge that it took scheer a week to even say anything about it, the liberals have gone from

1) Not saying it was genocide

2) Saying that they will leave it to academics to decide

3) Saying its genocide

4) Saying it's genocide but refusing to do any of the legal requirements of a genocide

5) calling it a cultural genocide.

PICK ONE you wishy washy incoherent fuktards!

Just handing the election to Scheer, I swear to god.

Sounds like a lot of people’s OSAP is getting cut between 50-96% this year. Yikes.

Can’t imagine that when I was a student

My sympathies.

Better hope scheer doesnt win come October or else its going to be two levels of government trying to give you the shaft.

Well if the Ont. taxpayers weren’t paying a billion dollars + each month to cover the interest on the debt there might be a bit more for spending on services.

So cut funding to higher education? That's a little short sighted, no? Where exactly is future growth supposed to come from?

Oh yeah I'm sure the Ontario taxpayers will see huge savings soon.

Hi. Yeah. That’s me, I’m one of those.

Got OSAP, almost done paying off, make six figures and would like to see my crapload of taxes go back into doing it all over again for someone else. But yeah, beer in corner stores. Cool.

Beer in corner stores in a great idea that I'm 100% in support of. I mean, I'm not in favour of paying a billion dollars in legal fees and penalties to the Beer Store to do it, that's just batshit crazy, but it's a good idea otherwise.

But yeah, Doug is doing a great job at tanking it for Scheer. Best thing he did is shut down the provincial parliament until after the election so there's only a limited amount more damage they can get in before the election. But the Liberal campaign in Ontario basically just needs to be, "Ford" and they should win like 100 seats in the province.

Yeah, I mean it’d be super convenient and I like beer too. It just shouldn’t be a priority over paramedics, education and shit that helps society.

No one wants cuts to their priority of interest whether it be education, health care, social services or whatever. My interest happens to lean more to health care.

I understand the struggle to pay for post secondary education. I have two daughters who both went to university and college. They both had to make sacrifices to cover most of the cost. My youngest worked full time and got her degree by going to university part time. The other worked two part time jobs while getting two BA’s and a Masters. It took a lot of sacrifice and doing without some things many consider necessities. Now she is paying off her moderate loan.

Years ago, backin the Stone Age, my brother also had to go the part time route while he worked full time and raised a family.

I certainly don’t advocate cutting all government services to the bone. OSAP is a great help for many students. I wish it had been more available when I graduated from high school. I might have chosen a different career. However when there are X number I’d dollars to cover all needed programs sometimes a small cut to funding is better than no funding.

Or....wild idea....don't cut taxes for the sake of cutting taxes (109K earners and above get the lions share of the Ford tax cut), and keep funding programs that generate future wealth and well being?

If only the conservative politicians actually cared about deficits 1% as much as they 've brainwashed their voters to care.

Doug Ford with the panic shuffle already. Gotta say I'm surprised its happening this quick. Guess he didn't like getting booed at the parade.
