New Canadian Politics Thread

I'm really struggling to see how they are left adrift

Post secondary Education? Women have out numbered men for a generation already

Women are still behind in the workplace

Not in the age cohort we're talking about they're not. Female unemployment is 3% lower than male unemployment among young people in Canada, median wages more or less identical.

Women grads outnumbered male grads for a generation, yes, but not like this.

Our highly sedentary and anti-social lifestyles aren't helping. Boys need to move, a lot, they also need the opportunity to interact with many people, in person.

I dunno, I’ve dated a hell of a lot of guys who made less than me over the years and watched a lot of my friends do the same.

I'm just going off of what the survey data shows, I don't have a dog in the fight. The social research on this is pretty clear that women are less willing to date down in education/income outcomes. Not that they don't ever, just less likely, and it's a far more important feature to them than it is to a man. I could dig up some studies if you want, but it's pretty widely studied and accepted.

Still an issue at the executive levels, but complicated to tease out with age and maternity factors.

There’s a lot of work for guys who want to be in the trades. Thing is, these are physical jobs and once a dude hits 45 pain and injuries seem inevitable.

They've also suffered heavily from unions disappearing over the years. They're hard work for ok but just ok money these days. There's great money in it if you're also skilled at getting work, I know a bunch of people making 70-100hr for their skillsets, but now you only eat what you kill, you get sick or hurt you're not making any money, what's a vacation, etc, etc.

The year 2000 (the year I started post secondary) was actually a higher percent of women than 2022.

Hard to do that when you spend your time playing video games, surfing internet porn, and watching comic book movies.

Compulsory national service.

USA seems a bigger issue but still not too bad

Kindaaa sounding like the blame for young men is being put on women here ultimately though.

Yeah, being attached to a small/medium “service firm” ain’t the same as it was having a union job with a big firm.

Wha? How do you figure? Women are telling researchers that they're less likely to date men who attain lesser educational or financial status than they have (men don't report similar preferences at nearly the same rate) and your takeaway within the context of the rest of this conversation is that I'm blaming women?

lol, cool.

I know your posting history so I don’t think that was your intention, but yea the post kinda implies young men are fucked because women won’t date down.

Because men are pieces of shit because women won't date "down"

Are we or are we not trying to answer a question/discuss as to why young men have pivoted right?

"they're shit" is probably bad analysis.

It's a weird take anyway because of women are not dating men and that is a reason they are shit / voting right then women are also single
