New Canadian Politics Thread

I still see ads for carbon tax carney

Apparently PP’s current strategy is to argue that Carney hasn’t actually repealed the consumer carbon tax—he’s just reduced it to zero. With the implication being that sneaky Carney’s just going to raise it again.

Of course, it can’t actually be officially repealed without a vote in Parliament, but PP skips that little detail.

He’s also campaigning on also doing away with the carbon tax on industrial heavy emitters, which Carney has left unchanged. That doesn’t really seem like a position with wide appeal to me, but hey, you do you Pierre!

Seems like they are really going to need a new strategy but I'm not convinced they have one .

They have spent years formulating this carbon tax and Justin hate and want to keep it going so as to not have wasted those years.

That is the scary thing. This election is going to get fucked with more than any other election in Canadian history.

Elon, Trump & Putin will use every possible tool in their digital toolboxes to try and get Poilievre elected. And if he doesn’t win, there’s a strong possibility they’ll spin up the “stolen election” and “Canada is a dictatorship that needs to be liberated” narratives.

Especially if Poilievre manages to win a plurality of seats but then inevitably fails to form a government that holds the confidence of the House.
its funny, in all the foreign interference talk, no one ever really pointed the finger at the US. but I suspect that they will be the biggest (and most concerning) source of foreign interference in the coming election.
