I’m shocked.

I don’t think 5000 rigs would fit in the core area of Ottawa let alone 50,000.

I’m thinking that the group that left Kingston is just a small localized group. Most will likely travel from North Bay down to Arnprior then to Ottawa. There is also a group supposedly coming from the east through Quebec to the Hill.

Looks like downtown Ottawa will be jammed by trucks this weekend but since almost nobody lives there and the offices are mostly empty these days, it is going to make no difference. Especially on a weekend.

The biggest impact will be on the restaurants and other small businesses that rely on a bit of weekend foot-traffic. If you happen to own a ramen place, an independent bookshop, or a fancy bakery, you’re probably going to hate it. The downtown Timmies will have a banner few days.

Some truckers have started to arrive now. The bulk of them are expected to leave Arnprior about noon tomorrow and arrive early afternoon..

The convoy from eastern and western Canada has just started to arrive about five minutes ago. I’m not where there going to park but Hill area doesn’t have a lot of space left.
