No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

If they do make room to call another forward back up i'm thinking it might be time to take another look at Steeves.

He was overshadowed by the younger kids at camp but he had a very strong camp in his own right, and is just dominating for the marlies so far.

24yr old AHL scoring doesn't mean a whole lot, but i'd be interested in a 65gl/105pt pace even if he was 30. And even more because he doesn't have the glaring weaknesses in size or skating that would be typical of the career AHLer type. And i guess it's useful to note that he doesn't actually turn 24 until next month.

He had a strong rookie year down there but stagnated in year 2. Seems to have levelled up here in year 3 tho.

Don't want to lose another Trevor Moore type without even giving him a real looksee. And his production is much better than Moore's was, and he's not a midget like Moore was either.
What I like about Steeves that I didn't love in the past is that his even strength scoring is insanely elite so far this year. Only 3 PP points. And 1 empty net goal, so I guess we can call it 4 "empty points" of his 18. Very impressive ratio.

On the other end of it he's currently shooting 24% so that'll of course tick down. Last year he shot 9%, year before he shot a hair under 13%. So assuming he's a 12-14% shooter that's an extra 5 goals more than "expected". But still a damn good start for him and he had a great camp as well.

man, don't miss Bunting at all.

and other than Gus, nothing to be too upset about on D either.

where the fuck did top-line Trevor Moore come from though...

I assumed we all blame the Muzz trade when a random ex Leaf turns into a realgud player. Verhaeghe was the worst of all.

Verhaeghe was particularly bad because he went in a huge package of garbage and treated like he was just one item of garbage going to the other team. I remember Frenemy laughing at me after that deal because I had actually been talking up Verhaeghe as a prospect, and then he was included in a massive dump of ostensible busts.

Another nailed LOF call casually remembered. Tough not to trip over them around here when there are so many. Guy never misses.

Dude, you gotta learn how to read AHL advanced stats. There’s a fortune to be made buying and selling rookie cards

Heh, I wasn't even doubting it. He's had some good calls. That will happen when everyone falls into either love or hate. Bad calls too.

But there's a big time need to constantly bring up the good calls.
I think it's where he gets most of his enjoyment out of being a hockey fan. He picks a side, sticks to it and doesn't ever let go. Ever. So while he cheers for the Leafs, he's also aggressively cheering for every player that he deemed was good so that he can bring it up later as an "I told you so" and spaz when anyone criticizes any part of their game. We all choose how to fan differently I suppose.

Who were the terrible ones? My conky has left me kinda groggy today.
