No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Reaves is there so that when Calgary plays Edmonton he can just go out there and fight Kane.

If you get an agreed upon extension for anyone of those players at a reasonable price and term then you throw in Kampf or Robertson

Brodie-Tanev
Rielly-McCabe
Giordano-Liljegren
Benoit-Timmins
Laggy

It's fine. I'm not jizzing all over myself but it works. Plenty of solid depth too.

I'd hate to see Lilly demoted back down tbh.

but I could live with this:

Rielly - Tanev
Brodie - Liljegren
Giordano - McCabe

but even then i'd want Timmins' offense in there somewhere.

this is why we really should be trying to add a top-end two-way type, not just a defensive guy.

If he can play the role that McCabe failed at last playoff then it's worth it if he's the only guy that is really actually available for a trade. If he's likely to fail at it, then he doesn't move the needle at all and is just more of what they have; a solid defensive, shit offensive low end top 4 d that can't really handle toughs. That's what it comes down to for me and I don't know the answer. Not sure I trust Boston Pizza to truly know either but hopefully he relies on the nerds to help guide him here.

So with the minimum 20-man roster, the leafs now have exactly $4,031,050.00 in capspace.

You can add the salary of whichever player(s) you are replacing out of that 20-man lineup to the "Maximum Available Capspace" figure.

Basically it's enough to add most anyone with just the normal 50% retention.

he obviously viewed Zadorov as a difference maker. he tried to trade for him, but was outbid by vancouver.
Nope. He tried to get him retained because he did not want his only addition on the back end to be a 3rd pair scrub. If he felt he was a difference maker he would have used all of his cap space on him like Vancouver did to complete their team.

Don’t forget, they saw Klingberg as filling a need. He didn’t, but I doubt they just don’t see that as a need anymore, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Leafs are looking for a dman that can move the puck.

this is coping nonsense. his philosophy is to acquire players who make a difference, and tried to trade for Zadorov. therefore, he feels Zadorov moves the needle.

The rumour was they wanted Tanev and Zadorov and never got close.

Also don’t forget that Tre has a rep of being in on every trade.

completely irrelevant. Nobody wants anyone at their full cap hit if it can be negotiated.

Vancouver wanted him at his full caphit. Leafs did not.

Leafs have the capspace. They clearly didn't see him as the difference maker on their blueline.

Brad didn't want to beat a 3rd and a 5th for Zadorov.

The logical implication of that is clear to everyone but you and your ilk.
