Homegrown western canadian boy only one of the big 4 to sign an 8 year deal.
No excess value is a gut punch here. That is not the norm with these star level signings.
They're paying him based on his last 37 games and ignoring the prior 521, yeah. Granted, the last 37 games should technically be weighted heavier than any batch of 37 games prior to this but still.. Frustrating. He got swindled.seems like Tre handled this negotiation about as poorly as possible...
I'm really not sure why we're rushing to sign him after his best stretch of play in the NHL ever.
Also, hopefully we don’t have any global pandemics, world wars, alien invasions or global depressions or recessions over the course of the next decade.
And that this time, the cap does actually significantly jump up right after we’ve locked up our core guys long-term. Like was supposed last time around.
