No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

I still don’t mind the Klingberg attempt. I get what they were trying to do there. They needed more offense from the back end and he can be a dynamic offensive guy. Unfortunately last years crater wasn’t due to playing on a bad ducks team.

But i get the move and they were (albeit fortuitously) able to get out from it. It was also only a 1 year commitment.

Reaves was bad and dumb.

Domi, bert and Benoit were all excellent adds.

I don’t have a treboner but I don’t hate what he’s done here.

I think almost all the problems are on the coach and in his player deployment, not on the players really.

Is Brodie looking slow and old suddenly? Sure, but maybe he's just fine on the second and third pairs. Maybe give Lilly more, give Brodie less. You don't need to run Brodie into the wall. You don't need to play 40 year old Gio every game.

Marner is the only one who looks weird to me, and it's had a bad trickle down effect because now he's not the superstar creative stud he always has been, and just kinda pretty good. Not good enough. That's like Matthews regressing from a 60-70 goal guy to a 30 goal guy. It makes a big difference.

As for Tavares, I think he's just in a bit of a slump. I've seen lots of near goals that could've easily gone in rather than stayed out, and it's probably dragging him down somewhat. He'll have a big game soon enough and will get back on track.

None of any of that changes how Keefe uses Kampf, or overrelies on Brodie, or doesn't even bother fucking playing Robertson.

And regardless of whether you can objectively pin it on the coach, you have to drop the axe just to make a change because the air is poison now. Much like when a coach pulls a goalie sometimes even when it isn't the goalie's fault, just because there needs to be something to shake the rest of the team out of its slumber.

If i recall, all of you hated Lafferty and wanted him gone

Lafferty's nerdies are turrible fwiw. Before anyone goes apologizing for not wanting Lafferty on their team.

With that said, Lafferty > Kampf so in retrospect letting Kampf walk and Lafferty take the 4C spot was the right move.

agree with all of this, other than the Tavares part

my last word for now is just to point out how funny it is that we're having this losing streak at exactly the time the team finally got back to being an elite nerdies team, with the 4th line finally playing well and Matthews/Marner finally dominating again.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic here or not. If not...

did he really though?

they had like one good year and then lost all their best players cause they dicked them around in contract negotiations. have they even made the playoffs since?

plus, he signed those awful Huberdeau and Kadri contracts.
I'm mocking him.

He seems extremely average as a GM. Some good, some bad.

Twitter algos seem to think I'm in love with zeke. He's constantly appearing on my feed and I'm not sure I've done anything to ask for this.

Unrelated and likely incredibly controversial but I'm starting to like the "for you" feed even more than the timeline. I'm exposed to stuff I wouldn't otherwise be exposed to. It's cool.

actually yeah the 'for you' tab isn't bad anymore. the most annoying part is all the dumb leafs accounts i get there.

and now that i've noticed i can pin my list headings at the top of twitter and easily toggle between them, suddenly i can use regular twitter again and don't really need tweetdeck anymore.

yay elon.

Reaves could still be useful the playoffs where the rules aren’t enforced. Like playing once or twice a series, I mean.

They'll still call the ticky-tack shit against the Leafs though, so still not useful.
