No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Im a bit baffled why Keefe like Knies but not Minten. I at least can understand why he hates young players generally, but he likes Knies because he is big, competitive and good defensively. Which Minten is too.

Knies was showing more than Minty out there and was poised to strike soon. Certain someone was claiming that, contrary to the masses as usual. Minty wasn’t doing the same, but certainly better than Kampf, that’s for sure. And now Kampf is riding the success of the wingers, but hopefully he gets knocked down soon. An injury to him where Minty and Holmberg take the bottom C spots would probably be impactful to them and him (in different ways, of course).

Something missing there? He can't be getting that many slot shots per game, or even averaging that many per game, can he? What's his total per game shot average then?

Agreed.

All hail HL

Not true.

And he's been great regardless.
I have higher standards for him than you. Probably because I actually believe in the player, whereas you clearly think he has a limited ceiling. For that reason, I think he's been good but not great. He can and will be better.

You've been vocal about him since day one. I won't deny you proper recognition for that faith.

They don't call you Presty of Faith for nothing.

Don't look at me. I'm thrilled that Max was able to get the best out of Knies finally.
Domi is very lucky Knies can wire it top shelf like that and take a bad pass off his skate to his stick in a nanosecond to score.

Or else he'd still be only 1 assist ahead of Matty's total.

Yes, Max is very fortunate that after tossing a pin point 40 foot backhand pass through a tiny gap between sticks that Knies could, with an incredible amount of time and space do something that most moderately talented NHL shooters can do.

Fun story. Timmy and I were at a game a bunch of years ago, great seats behind the Leafs net, and in warm ups watch Wade fucking Belak take laps and on each lap casually roof daddy a wrister dead in the corner. Like 4-5 times in a row with nothing resembling a miss. Completely unrelated to my original point of course.

As for the 2nd goal, lovely play by Knies but that wasn't a bad pass. Max put it under the shin pad of the defender

That's literally the only place he could have put it to get it through. A few inches further up it hits the knee, a few inches back, the skate.

Beautiful play by both.

I saw it several times that night and it looked like a pretty lucky pass that got through (and most players on the receiving end would flub that unless they are studs), same with the first one but that was more intentional than not.

The worst NHL player is insanely skilled compared to any semi-regular human being. Some scrub former-Senator who I had never heard of came out to my son’s practice a couple of years back and the guy, who was like 45 at the time, was just carving up the ice like it was butter and flicking effortless backhands top corner whenever he wanted.

Yeah, it was my NHL skill level "come to jesus" moment watching Wade effortlessly hammer wristers 4-5 times in a row into a space the size of a mail slot in the top corner. Insane stuff from a guy who wasn't in the league at all for his skill. The difference from there upward is that the truly skilled guys do it much faster and have the skill of getting open despite insanely good defenders trying to not let them get open.
