I’d define a “depth defenseman” as a D who isn’t good enough to be an everyday top-6 defenseman on a good team, but is a warm body who in a pinch can fill in on the bottom pair.

So yeah, Boosh might not even qualify as that.

and not even that, but he's already played for us so we know he fucking sucks.

If he’s ripping the move then I’ve changed my mind. This is a genius move for Tree and and an obvious piece to add to a championship contender.
 
Step 1: go on a 7 game winning streak with Liljegren on your top pair
Step 2: look worse defensively when Liljegren gets hurt and Rielly returns
Step 3: Acquire a #7d for multiple picks and bury Liljegren on the bottom pair when he returns to the lineup

Data driven all the way. Brilliant minds running this team.
 
In the last 2 years the Leafs played their literal best hockey on the nerdies with Mo out and Liljegren playing key minutes in a top 4 role. How have they not put this together? Acquiring the worst defensman in the NHL to play top 4 minutes on a supposed cup contender to bury the young and improving stud d makes less than zero sense. It is truly mindblowing.
