No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Haha. Beautiful.

First, only you would compare a poopish third liner to one of the best players in the league.

Second, for all your talk about how valuable goals are when it comes to contract dollars, here you are comparing a guy you just finished laughing at for not being able to score to a guy who can get 35 in his sleep.

Third, why do you have to hate all the good players? Tavares has been fantastic his whole Leaf career, and now in the second last year of the deal, looks as good as ever. And poor Knies has done nothing but show great promise at every turn. Why don't you save your resentment for guys you think will be good and bust, and be happy that guys you thought would be bad actually panned out? You could have been loving Tavares and Knies with me all this time and not have to be all grumpy about them now to save face. I will leave the bandwagon door open for you.
Mindz is taking an xvideos pounding today.

Only on a dollar per point basis. But on that basis, Tavares needs to score 205 points this year to be worth 11 million.

"35 in his sleep" is a cute way of saying "twice out of five tries as a Leaf"

I don't. I love Auston, Mitchy, Nylander, and Mo. I dislike overpaid robot bitches that have sucked in the playoffs for us, sure.

M.e: "Knies will likely cap out as a 25-30 goal/~60 points very good and valuable 2 way winger"

You: wHy dO U H8 HIm so MuCH???

M.e: Whatever, so how many points do you think he's likely to score???

Damn, he's only on pace for 148 points.

Well, another year he paced to 34. The year he scored the least was during Covid insanity, and he paced to 27, the same as his next "worst" year as a Leaf. And of course he scored 47 times in year one. Cute to play with the quote instead of acknowledge that he's a great goal scorer in comparison to your boy Domi.

He hasn't sucked in the playoffs and he's quite the opposite of a bitch.

Did you come up with that prediction before you thought he probably wouldn't amount to much and was worth trading or after he looked good in the playoffs with zero NHL experience? Because you've somehow gone from criticizing his NCAA production and what it likely projects for him and treating him as trade fodder to suddenly expecting him to become a first line winger in the NHL. Quite the leap. If I have to make a dumb prediction, he's probably a 30+ goal scorer on average, 70-80 points per year once he gets going. Of course, now anything short of that and it'll be "oh, he's a 30 goal scorer in his sleep when he only scored 29 last year!!" or "he's just a sucky 25 goal scorer, nothing like what you thought". So there you go, I've set myself up for the lose-lose, and you've got the win-win where if he flames out, you win and if he's a first line winger, you win.

Minten 0:25, 7.04xga/60, 43.70ga/60, (0.00xgf/60)

Matthews is just destroying it on the PK. I didn't even realize he was already clearcut on the top unit. Not only is he keeping chances down but he's causing a ludicrous amount of chances for.

Willy is also crazy dangerous on the PK in lower minutes but he's a bit iffier in the chances allowed department.

Note that Kampf has had some extra PK minutes in 3v5 and 3v4 situations and he's been great there so his total SH TOI is higher than Matthews.

Brodie 2:57, 10.58xga/60, 11.67ga/60
Giordano 2:26, 7.44xga/60, 15.15ga/60

Liljegren 1:45, 7.35xga/60, 8.11ga/60
McCabe 1:35, 7.58xga/60, 8.94ga/60

Rielly 0:27, 0.00xga/60, 0.00ga/60

The PK D Pairs are pretty straightforward and both seem solid.

That's a whole 3 million dollar Max Domi away though...

That's a whole lot of explanation for what was previously "in his sleep".

"You see, by in his sleep I really meant......"
He hasn't sucked in the playoffs

He 100%, undeniably has sucked in the playoffs as a Toronto Maple Leaf. A 55 fucking point fucking pace. 11 million....fucking inflation gets ya every time.

I'm gonna stop ya right there chief. I literally posted my fucking receipts from while he as playing in the NCAA. Go piss up a rope with this retcon bullshit you're trying to pull. Fucking #memorytest

Firstly, Tavares is one of the best players in the NHL. You don't have to enjoy it, but you should. You're spoiled because other than Matty, the last time you had such a center on the Leafs, Nik Borchevsky was scoring the OT winner to oust Yzerman's Wings. If you have a problem in the playoffs, it should be with everyone, not just one guy who has actually stepped up in the later games of a series in recent postseasons unlike most.

Secondly, I refuse to piss upwards, as that will surely backfire. The problem on Knies is, you're a hedger. In your world, somehow he can be both a bust and a first line winger, and you've found a way to dig in on both sides of the fence. His college production didn't impress you, and he had Cooley as a linemate, and you said he's not a great skater, and so you're totally cool with trading him at the deadline, buuuuut...you ALSO think he's going to top out as a 30 goal first line winger in the NHL. Say what? Either his trajectory is overhyped probable bust or a star? Only one of us said from day one that the good old eye test confirms he's a stud, and the other didn't think all that much of him. You can't be down on a prospect and simultaneously predict he'll be awesome. Check your receipts as they clearly say "no returns" after a couple of seasons of putting down the kid.

Although I will say that in the first paragraph of my last post, I clearly forgot that Mats Sundin existed, so let's just say in the past 15 years.

Or we can say only two other Leaf centers in the last 50 years or whatever it's been.

We are in agreement there. But in fairness, I've been working nonstop since Friday while still not feeling so great, so...

No, that isn't really an excuse considering how much I love that man.
