optimistic offseason zeke was just so cute and adorable though.

but your point is a good one - only the Leafs build their roster around a fucking shittastic fourth line...

Said this a week ago, but this was a big decision for Berube. McMann will play this year, but we all know who is starting game 1 of the playoffs now. And game 7 for that matter.

This team with a Cowan/Krok-Kampf-McMann 4th line is a completely different team.

John Ferguson Jr vibes.

Deer in the headlights terrified to make any substantial moves.
It was pretty clear when he didn't ditch Keefe as soon as he came in the Treliving was going to manage to minimize his own career risk, rather than to maximize our chances during the core's window. Keeping Keefe allowed him to fully utilize his "wait and evaluate" year. Now the Berube hire buys him some more time to tinker around the edges while making no big ticket moves that could open him up to any criticism or risk.

i really don't mind sending cowan down tbh.

we have lots of better options than this 4th line here anyways.

McMann-Dewar-Jarnkrok is a far better line.

This org just loves picking up others teams trash and gifting them every day spots in the lineup.

The more time passes, the more I think it is Shanahan that is setting the course and his GM is just following orders. I guess kinda like Shatkins?

I am going to call them Shanaliving. Yeah, that's the ticket!
I was thinking this too, given we're on what, our third different iteration of idiotic fourth lines under three different coaches?

Team Defense Pre-Brad

20-21: 5v5 #6 ga, #10 xga -- 4v5 #9 ga, #6 xga --- ALL #8 ga, #7 xga
21-22: 5v5 #21 ga, #4 xga -- 4v5 #11 ga, #3xga --- ALL #18 ga, #3 xga
22-23: 5v5 #4 ga, #12 xga -- 4v5 #6 ga, #2 xga --- ALL #7 ga, #11 xga
3year: 5v5 #11 ga, #6 xga -- 4v5 #7 ga, #3 xga --- ALL #9 ga, #6 xga

With Brad

23-24: 5v5 #16 ga, #16xga -- 4v5 #23 ga, #16xga --- ALL #20 ga, #17xga

so Brad "we need defense" Treliving's team was by far the worst defensively of any recent leafs team.

Worst defensive players on Brad's team:

xGA/60 (asterisk = Brad Add, double asterisk = Brad re-signed)

1. Klingberg* 3.81
2. Gregor* 3.00
3. Edmundson* 2.90
4. Rielly 2.84
5. Domi* 2.80

ga/60

1. Klingberg* 3.83
2. Reaves* 3.41
3. Domi* 3.03
4. Nylander 3.00
5. Rielly 2.89

Lorentz had the worst ga/60 amongst florida forwards last year and OEL had the worst xga/60 amongst florida dmen. Hakanpaa had the worst ga/60 on DAL' defense last year. at least he was middle of the pack in xga tho.

Different Coach/GM doesn't matter, this org seems to know what they want in a 4th line, different plug, same fucking apple in the vending machine as last time
