No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Dewar/Myers can be waived whenever - Marlies depth

Jarnkrok/Liljegren are on the bubble and one will need to be traded to accomodate Hakanpaa once healthy.

Also - McMann did nothing to earn a roster spot in training camp for a new coach. He played preseason like he'd already earned a spot.

so here's how the Doms think the Leafs look against some of the other top teams.....

...note, of course, that the Leafs look like they'll be sacrificing about 20 Doms right off the bat just by lineup choices (guessing that Reaves and Lorentz both come in around -12, which would drop them from having elite Doms down to having just Top-10 Doms.

Super frustrating that this and keeping him on the NHL roster were the only two options. Because it’s hard to argue that he didn’t look ready for a full-time NHL job.

But then after what he accomplished in the OHL last year, going back is likely a complete waste of his time, and we lose him almost certainly for the rest of the season.

He really should be in the AHL.

That said, London will be stacked again this year.

If we do end up with all of Lorentz, Reaves, Benoit, Hakanpaa in there over McMann/Robby, Jarnkrok, Liljegren, Timmins then that could lop a good 30 Doms off that 54 total there, making us a straight up middle of the pack Doms team.

I was half encouraged when Tre said he listens to his nerds when identifying players to sign. When it comes to coaching or any of that though, it seems the nerds have 0 say. Zilch. And either Berube is no different than Keefe or, more likely, Tre is married to his big boys + Kampf.

Berube clearly has had a hard on for that fourth line too tho. We'll see how long it lasts. I imagine it will be a catastrophe and can't be ignored at some point.

Matthews is an unfair advantage that we've spent most of a decade trying to gift back to our competition with the rest of the roster construction

ah Dom actually says in the article that Reaves is a -14 not a -12. So take off a couple more doms from there.

"Despite that, somehow, the threat of Reaves and his minus-14 Net Rating (!) lingers. A fourth line with David Kämpf flanked by Reaves and Steven Lorentz would be the league’s worst — a lesson the team should’ve learned last year during the worst season of this era. The margins matter."

whoohoo lookit these cap geniuses work.

i'm sure patches will be worth it. no question. especially when they trade robertson because they have patches instead.

Why are we dipping into next year's cap to sign Pacioretty?

At least make the bonuses vest at meaningful levels so we can pull the chute if he's old and cooked. 10 games? Fuck off. Even 35...fuck off. He played 47 last year and scored 4 goals. Why are we taking any risk on that?
