Kind of amazing that we have the 2nd best goal differential at 5v5 despite only being #16 in goals for.

It’s a great old school argument - impossible to prove if there may have been intention.

But guys like Roberts and Tucker were so great cause they could play top 6/9 minutes and were fucken nuts. Guys had to be very aware of them if they went after Sundin or mogilny. I get a coach loving a fighter that can actually keep up with Matthews and protect him on most of his shifts. But those guys don’t exist anymore. Might as well hire Reeves as a fighting coach and get the core to learn how to defend themselves. Better use of the team’s money and frees up cap space.
 
Ya know, you really have to laugh at Mitch being a couple points away from the top of points leaderboard in a contract year.

Players shouldn't be able to buy +2M a year over 6-8 years due to performance in a contract year... but it happens, every time.
 
Minten's play is big, because it means they can save all their cap space for a D. Though a legit 20 g winger to push down McMann would be nice too.
 
eh I'm not convinced Minten is the answer as our 3LC quite yet. but his play has been encouraging.

would rather have him a 4LC and have some sort of Jenner/Staal type as 3LC, if we can find them. I think that or a top-6 winger are our biggest current roster holes
 
The nerdies aren't there for him (yet) but he seems to consistently be in on scoring chances and they love his attention to detail defensively. And the whole team's nerdies have stunk lately and his linemates have been weak.

TB and FLA didn't trade for 3Cs they just played young Cirelli and Lundell. Who was colorado's 3C? Compher?
 
Ya, the more reps you give him the more likely he is to be a cheap 3C "answer" by the deadline/playoffs. Live with the growing pains for some long-term gain. If you don't play him there's no chance he's the answer.
 
the power move definitely could be a dman. and if we're smart we have the capspace to add any dman in the league.
