No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Totally worth signing a guy with one leg who topped out as an ok #4 when he had two legs.

Yeah, that’s a big part of why that signing is so confusing. I’d get it if there was real, high-end upside in this player if he managed to overcome this injury.

But what’s the actual best case scenario? If he gets healthy, we get a treebitch who’s a mediocre middle-to-bottom-pair defenseman?

I mean, it was either that or keep Lilly, so obviously you get the broken useless piece of shit from another organization and dump your homegrown youngster who's basically never been given a full opportunity.

5 points in 16 games with fucking SJ and a +1!

not to dump on lilly but that's a 25pt pace, even with full PP time.

with Domi mcmann patches looking to be back sometime in the next week....

let's say this is my ideal lineup for now though i could quibble around the edges obviously.

Knies --- Matthews --- Marner
McMann --- Tavares --- Domi
Pacioretty --- Minten --- Nylander
Holmberg --- Dewar --- Lorentz
(Grebenkin --- Robertson)

McCabe --- Tanev
Rielly --- Timmins
OEL --- Myers
Benoit

Stolarz
Woll

they can't keep this roster together tho with Reaves here. so Grebs will obviously get dropped to keep Reaves. And it's probably better for grebs to be in the ahl than in the pressbox or even in a 4th line role tbh (though maybe he's an upgrade to the 4th line too). but fine, demote grebs for now. hopefully they can find a way in their hearts to put reaves in the pressbox at least as much as it may break their hearts.

but then there's Hakanpaa, who a few days ago had a little thing done to his little thing to help it a little bit and is apparently only a little bit away from returning. at that point, a hard decision will have to be made.

they've made zero signs of wanting to avoid having 8 dmen on the roster, and seem to like all 8 guys, so I don't see a hard decision coming there.

Most likely that's when we'll see the end of the line for one of Robby or Holmberg.

And then whenever Kampf comes back, it's probably sayonara to whichever one avoids the axe this time.

underlying all that thought is the fact that Kampf Krok Reaves Hakanpaa cost $6.5m to not really even deserve to be in the lineup, and we could easily use that capsapce to add an impact piece or two via trade.

I'm pissed at Robby for letting his lack of production justify their giving up on him inevitably.

If he was humming along like Knies this year, he'd have solidified a spot and we'd be talking about needing to sign both long term asap.

This is today's edition of Hoss's High Hope's trade idea/prediction

Hakanpaa works out but still is questionable...and so Tre trades Hakanpaa for Schenn to then have
Mcabe Tanev
Reilly Schenn ❤️
Benoit/Timmins OEL

Then Holmberg and Robertson plus a pick for a 2/3C Nelson, Kadri, Bjugstad, Cissons and with Cissons you see if you can get Marchesault some how with reduction

We play Anaheim this Thursday and I got tickets.

I know trouba isn't great anymore., but if Anaheim eats half his pay would trouba be a hard no for people here for 3.5-4 mill?
Mcabe Tanev
Reilly trouba
