No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

honestly most combos look good to me when healthy.

big question is who fits at 3C. I think coach is ready to give Minten a run there even when we're healthy, even though that'll likely mean losing robby. And i think coach still likes Holmberg enough that he would be the next guy up if Minten can't. But i don't see Domi going back to C.

Holmberg is also a nice fit on the 4th line tho. Lorentz/Holmberg/Dewar/Kampf are all pretty similar actually. Good defensive players who can skate, and also all legit PKers. And they can all play C and take tough draws. Reaves better not be in any mix when we're healthy. And it would be really really smart to try and trade Kampf.

Pacioretty - Matthews - Domi
Knies - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Minten - Marner
Lorentz - Dewar - Holmberg
(Robertson - Grebenkin)

Hope Brad has the balls to clear some deadweight instead of just sitting on these "assets". Especailly since that money could instantly fix that 3C hole.

but yeah you could mix up any of that top-9 and it would look pretty good i think.

Could not possibly give less of a shit about Pacioretty’s fancy stats.

He’s still a shitty, old, broken ex-Hab occupying both a place in the lineup and a roster spot I’d much rather see go to a kid like Grebenkin.

except he's been a top end 1st liner on top teams for his entire career up until his achilles injuries.

up until his achilles injuries.

The only relevant part of your post.

Yeah, sure, once he was a decent enough player. Now he’s another old, broken career loser that we’re shoe-horning into our top-9 (and sometimes top-6) at the expense of our own home-grown players.

Hard pressed to say the young guys aren't getting a chance this year.

Yeah, and all it took was, like, eight regular forwards going down before any young guys aside from Robertson & Holmberg got a serious opportunity.

And of course, two of the kids get the chop as soon as Pacioretty & Reaves are back.

I mean they clearly wanted Robby to succeed. he flopped worse than anyone would have imagined. same with holmberg.

Grebs is getting playing time in his first season in NA despite not dominating the AHL, and despite having some ugly numbers so far in the NHL. Looks like a guy who could clearly use some AHL time. Minten has been only ok but we're still looking like we're giving him a big chance regardless.
