And to be clear, that could have failed too. Dubas tried to do that with kadri. Trade an older guy that he felt was going downhill (and as a 3c they felt that they weren't maximizing him) for a d and replacement cheaper younger center. Only problem was, that cheaper younger center wasn't a center. And the d was... Well you know. But I always admired the intent there even if the execution was shit.
 
Its still a very small sample, but Ras has been one of the best dmen in the league this year. And he hasn't been sheltered either. He's not getting buried like McCabe/Tanev, but he's playing on their top pair with Roy. He plays tougher minutes than Mo.

Cowan better pan out and quick. Like if he is a 50 point winger in 3 years at 22 like Knies and Sandin keeps this up...
 
Looking at the data of the lines that stayed together and I think this seems like the best combo when all said and done.

Knies Papi Marner
Pacioretty Amulet Willy
Mcmann Minten Domi
Lorentz Kampf Dewar

I say you let minten and Domi marinate to see if it could lead to something. Because if that clicks and Mcmann contributes again, now you have a bottom six that can probably score.

I think you may be able to something for Robertson. Holmberg, and Kampf. Someone may need some quantity for quality

Actually there was only 7 healthy dmen on the roster so this means at least one of mccabe or hak is ready to go. Please be the former.
 
We really need to add a great dman. Those last three guys are junk and the guy behind them holding his cock in his paw is even worse. We also saw what one top 4 injury made us look like over the last several games.
 
Line combos should never make this big a difference but it's kinda funny what happened last game.

bad sign for Myers that he comes right out. none of the bottom 4 (including Mo and OEL) have been playing well lately, but i thought he might try L/R and L/R in the bottom two pairs with McCabe back, and sit Benoit out.

I really want to see Mo-OEL step it up now that McCabe is back with Tanev to take ALL the heavies. Mo-OEL should be pretty dominant in the kind of usage they get now. If they can't be, then we probably need to add a legtit good dman.
