having 2 guys with nhl experience down there in Mermis and Benning, plus Rifai who they seem to really like, might have been enough dman depth that they wouldn't have felt the need to add 18 shitty dmen at the deadline.

Ehhh...here's a wild idea. If we need an injury fill in, how about one of the 22-23 yr old prospects we have instead of the 31 yr old journeyman?
 
I was hoping he cleared because Brad liked him, you see. If Brad liked him, that might stop him from adding more shitty depth at the deadline. Now i fear he'll feel the need to add more.
 
I wasn’t even aware of North Dakota Mermaid’s existence until we lost him on waivers.

From looking at his hockeydb page, I can’t even begin to fathom why anyone would give two shits about losing him. He looks like a poor man’s Jeff Finger.
