Hak is a wild card. Ideally he gets some reps in before the deadline because that could be a solid upgrade from within that will allow them to explore more help upfront

They have to go into the playoffs on the assumption that some of the top 6 will lay an egg based on previous history
 
and you see with all the forward injuries that really it was the Dewar-Kampf-Krok/Reaves/Gregor line that was the 3rd line. Robertson-Holmberg-Krok/Gregor were lightly used and more of a 4th line.

This year with any health at all we could have an upgraded Kampf line that still gets to be used less than the Kampf line was last year.

And I still go back to how that Domi-Bert pairing with either Matthews or Marner both were very good lines in big roles for us. This isn't because Domi-Bert were amazing, though both are good, but more that Matthews and Marner actually don't need each other to be good.

We haven't seen it yet, maybe because of all the constant injuries, but I really wouldn't mind seeing something like this;


Knies - Matthews - Robertson
McMann - Domi - Marner
Pacioretty - Tavares - Nylander
Lorentz - Kampf - Krok/Dewar

but even if Matthews-Marner stay together, I still see a Patches/Steeves-Domi/Minten-Robertson/Grebs and Lorentz-Kampf-Krok/Dewar bottom 6 as pretty hugely upgraded over last year's.

One rumour I read was Colton Sissons and McCarron from the preds for Robertson, Kampf a 3rd and a prospect...maybe even Reaves.
 
hmm. trying to figure if that actually gives us anything new beyond what xgf xga TOI already gives us.
 
Kyper on the radio was talking a hypothetical Reilly - JT Miller deal.

Isn’t Miller a giant POS in the locker room? Why would we want that?
 
I don't think that's the best Van could get for Miller either.

They have 2 big contracts on the back end in Hughes and Hronek. Not sure adding another 7.5 to the back end makes sense for them.
 
Donato would be ok as a cheap pickup but comparing him to barbashev is dumb. He’s 4 months younger than barbashev and has a career high of 31 points. Barbashev was 3 years younger and on the heels of a 26 goal season.

Brock Neilson has 3 straight 30 goal seasons. Donato is several rungs below those 2.

They should get Lizzote from the Pens with Pettersson. He’s an actual center, is scoring as much as Donato and isn’t just a complete black hole like Kampf/Holmberg.
