So not a ton of burners but mostly well above average, aside from the very bottom of the lineup / press box.

It's kinda funny but unsurprising that the slowest guys have steadily found themselves down at the very bottom of the lineup or out of it.

also the Timmins/Myers/Hakanpaa trio there is pretty sad.


also interesting how you can clearly see Mitch's injuries last year in his speed stats, and the same of Matthews this year.

I wish they differentiated between with and without the puck, or offensive/defensive. Those are different types of speed.

Because yeah, we definitely skate fast when we're chasing our dump ins. Effort isn't an issue. I see Robbie in hard on the forecheck pretty regularly, but we don't seem to move the puck through the neutral zone quickly as much.

The Leafs don’t play fast. We didn’t under Keefe either though. Speed helps, but I don’t know that you need a whole much of guys like McMann. The puck moves faster than anyone skates. Gotta move the puck well in transition to be a fast team.

i really think the offensive woes come down to the D not having the freedom to join the rush (or even skate the puck out of the zone) or pinch in to keep ozone cycles alive.

At this point, if we make any moves, I want to to be for guys that have prime years left along with at least a couple years of control.

Leafs are really the only team purposely getting slower with the majority of their moves. I am very confused by their direction.
Yes, the days of aging players from bad teams at the deadline needs to end.

They really have slowed themselves down with a lot of past deadline moves. I was complaining about the RR/JT slow issues down the middle in 2023'.

Saying it doesn't actually mean anything tho.

The Leafs were very good with ROR. Even though they had Schenn and the corpses pf Brodie and Gio on defense and even though ROR was stuck playing with Acciari and Kerfoot.

Lineup Changes since then:

Bunting ---> McMann
Kerfoot ----> Domi
Acciari --> Patches/Holmberg
Jarnkrok --> Robertson/Holmberg
Lafferty ---> Lorentz

Brodie ---> Tanev
Giordano -> OEL
Schenn ---> Benoit
Holl/Lilly --> Myers/Timmins

Samsonov --> Stolarz
 
What about trying to make some brother trades.

Get B Schenn and L Schenn....then top it off with a trade for Brandon Tanev for the third line RW.
Then call up Alex Nylander....and ride the brother power to the cup 😜
 
On a slightly more serious note....what about calling St. Louis for Parayko.

6'6 RD. Familiar with Berube 🤷‍♂️

He should be able to play with morgan.
 
After hovering around league average most of the year, Knies' net rating has really started to gain some traction and start moving on up.

He's up to a +7 now which is getting him close to impact level. not quite there yet though. He's alongside other youngsters like Caufield +7 and Lundell +6.

McMann coming up behind him now too at +4.
 
After looking at cost and then fit...I feel the best deal out there will be us getting Schenn and ROR together.

ROR might actually want to come back for chief and seeing the bitch of teammates he currently has.

He went for a first and third last time....so now not as much. Preds need new players that are cheaper after being stuck with Stamkos.

Willy has demonstrated chemistry with ROR and works with Mcmann speed.
