Yes, bring back O’Reilly & Schenn.

In fact, they should also re-acquire Foligno, Nash, Lyubushkin, Edmondson, Galchenyuk, Blackwell & Acciari. And once that’s done, coax Brian Boyle & Tomas Plekanec out of retirement.

Then maybe once they’ve gathered all the failed deadline acquisitions of the Shanahan era together, they’ll combine into some sort of Megazord that will crush and kill all of their playoff opponents. Worth a shot!
 
So I like the idea of O'Reilly or a similar centre on this team.

You would have 3 forward pairs that should give you offense:

Matthews - Domi
Tavares - Marner
O'Reilly - Nylander

That is a deep playoff rotation. In the past our coach just mashed these together to make 2 lines. The other wingers don't matter, just pick the ones with the right "chemistry".
 
Laughton's actually decent, especially this year...which is probably because this year he's been pretty exclusively a winger. Looking at him as a reliable defensive C is probably way wrong.


But it's much better idea than brayden fucking schenn at least.

Ristolainen is basically a good, legit top 4 version of Schenn, Boosh so he's kinda prefect for Mo. But he's expensive for what he is.

I would take a chance on Drysdale over Timmins. I like the idea of getting some young D. But its a long term play.

he's been pretty consistently listed on wing in most lineups i've seen. and he's not terrible on draws.

his top-4 linemate combos have been:

Poehling/Hathaway 175min, 58.8xgf%--> either he or poehling. Poehling takes more draws and has been listed at C whenever i've checked.
Brinks/Farabee 71min, 41.1xgf% ---> laughton definitely C on this line but this line sucked
Frost/Michkov 53min, 62.6xgf% ----> Frost always listed at C i think
Couturier/Konecny 25min, 55.8xgf% --> Coots the C here


so yeah it comes down to whether he or poehling is the C when together, as far as i've seen it's poehling that gets listed there but i don't know what moneypuck looks at.

the one line where laughton was definitely C sucked balls.
 
Sure. But Auston has a nagging injury he admittedly isn’t likely to fully recover from all season, and for which the only effective treatment is apparently rest.

Considering that, taking a pass on Gary’s exhibition tournament and getting some crucial mid-season rest seems like it’d be a good idea, if the priority was to be in the best possible shape for the playoffs.

But I suppose that’s not the priority.

With the Laughton rumours popping up and it being a name we've heard before... what are some other names that you think a) are the younger potential type of players and b) names not necessarily mentioned but could be available.

I'll start with Nick Schmaltz

and I just read that Nylander is playing on the left with Zibanajad as his centre on the top line and Rackell on the right. :love:

If that ends up working out at the Four Nations, I might be interested with Mika as a trade target. And then go all out and see what Rackell could ask.

The Rangers could be a spot that Domi wouldn't necessarily mind going to just like his old man.

Domi + for Zibanajad
Holmberg + Robertson or whatever Dubas pick for Rackell.

Then you can do like a Minten + pick for a better defenseman. Hell throw in Minten and a pick for Rackell and a retained Karlson.

I really am excited to see if Nylander/Ziba/Rakell hit and if Karlson shows what he's capable of with Team Sweden.

That would be a pretty big trade.
 
If we’re looking to clear money for a bigger money player in return Domi is definitely the guy to move. The guy just isn’t scoring enough goals.
