No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

post-engvall trade

Acciari 50.3xgf% (-3.8rel)
Kampf 47.4 (-6.0)
Kerfoot 47.1 (-6.4)
ZAR 44.0 (-9.8)
Lafferty 42.5 (-12.7)

and of course, Kampf got the toughest usage of all those depth guys. (Acciari had the pleasure of playing with RoR).

Aren't his with/without xG numbers turrible without the giraffe?

Kampf has always kept a positive ledger in both the goals and expected goals departments, in extreme tough usage. Don't think it's a huge coincidence that the Leafs have become a top defensive team since adding him in the toughest defensive role.

Hell, his offensive production hasn't even been bad relative to his role.

can you do a comparison of pre vs post?

I think Kampf basically largely dominated toughs with engvall. And mostly held his head above water-ish without him. But we shouldn't be surprised that he performed better playing with a guy that you don't mind having on the ice vs anyone.

If Lilly has to go on LTIR that sucks. But it does give them a bit of space to call up 2 players and get Reaves out of the lineup. Not enough space to call up whoever you want, but they could recall McMann or Robertson and Benoit/Lajoie.

Also, all of Robertson, Tverberg, McMann and Niemela off to great starts (~ppg) offensively.

thank god we have a not-awful record right now after 10gms because otherwise things look pretty bleak.

We're at around 65xgf% at 4v4 and 3v3, which along with our solid (but not great) special teams is keeping us above water so far.

But the 5v5 play is bleak.

It's a nice little chef's kiss that our two best xgf% forwards (by a lot) are either a) in the coach's doghouse, or b) back in junior.

And a nice kick in the nuts that our best xgf% dman is out longterm.
