No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Unless Tre is demanding certain roles/ice-time for players - I'd say most of this is on Keefe.

That said, the first 10 games is the best time to experiment with things and to come out of it with a winning record is still something.

I'll be interested to see how Tre reacts in the next 10 games - does he make any roster adjustments? Trades?

Keefe needs a big, quick turnaround to justify keeping his job.

I’d be surprised if he’s not on a short leash. He’s Dubas’s guy through and through, and I can’t imagine that Treebitch didn’t hire Guy Boucher essentially as a “head-coach-in-waiting”.

Which…I’m not really wild about, since I’m really not a fan of Boucher either. But I’ve been ready to move on from Keefe for quite a long while now, so I’d still celebrate that change.

Klinger needs to simplify his game, and stop puck chasing. Coaches must be showing him video constantly.

yeah, I've wanted Keefe gone for a while.

but really not thrilled with the idea of replacing him with even fucking lower event Guy fucking Boucher

Boucher also seems to have a ridiculously short shelf-life as a coach. It’s actually remarkable how similarly his two stints as an NHL head coach played out.

Year one: Strong season, lost in round #3
Year two: Poor season, missed playoffs
Year three: Fired partway into a horrific season

But hey, who knows, maybe we’ll hit the sweet spot of that year #1 Boucher boost if he’s a mid-season replacement for Keefe.

Maybe not him then, I really don't know a lot about him, but just about anyone would be an upgrade over the fat headed fuck to me at this point.

There must be someone out there who can get along with and motivate these assholes.

What's the story with Gerard Gallant? Seems to have a short shelf life too. One of the more entertaining coaches to watch when they get pissed.

CBJ: Couldn't make the playoffs, axed 15 games into 3rd season.
FLA: Miss playoffs first season, lose in first round, fired 22 games into 3rd season.
VGK: Magical expansion run to Cup Final, lose in first round, fired 49 games into 3rd season.
NYR: Conference finals, lose in first round, gone.

Just learned that Reeves is the 11 oldest forward in the league

and that his start with the Leafs is a carbon copy of how he started with the Rangers last year (before doing better with Minny)

He lasted exactly 12 games with the Rags where he was outscored 6-1 while on the ice, with expected goals at 32%

Keefe's Playoff W%, By League:

CCHL (6 Seasons): .747
OHL (3 Seasons): .670
AHL (4 Seasons): .673

NHL (4 Seasons): .421

Gallant is .517 with double the number of po games coached

I'm not big on cheering for or against a coach.

But if this core gets a second coach fired it gets pretty worrying.

I mean not the end of the world - lots of good teams have gone through more than 2 coaches and it's not a McDavid new coach every year or two situation but it's not great.

Agreed it doesn’t look great. But also Vegas won with their 3rd coach in 6 years so who cares.

They're not gonna go very far if Bert Domi and Knies continue to give them nothing. At least Kyle's guys were shot suppressors while they provided zero offense. Keefe could be better but those players haven't sucked just because of him.

And then the Reaves playing every night thing is a disaster. And choosing to give 4m to a horrible player on d was a mistake too. Tre has to own a lot of this and I say that as a huge Boston Pizza fan. Jonas this isn't an invitation to recite the entire menu again, shut up.
