No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Paying Schenn for the next few years makes no sense, but at least he’s a huge upgrade on Benoit.
Reality is you can get a younger, cheaper D than Schenn that's better than Benoit.

We need to focus on getting more talented for once. Please no more 3rd pair Ds on bad teams.

The only thing I think about getting Schenn back would be that it would open up Morgan Reilly to be that offensive minded puck moving defenseman again. So it would hopefully answer both questions.

Issue is, would Schenn play anything like he did in 2023? He played great, but he hasn't played that way since and is 35.

I know.. but he still leads the league in hits, and if Morgan can free wheel a bit because of that, then maybe this helps.

For the record, i don't actually understand how a strategy of "reuniting the schenn brothers" could be "leaked". STL and NSH wouldn't have any knowledge about interest in the other brother. And why would any leafs employee talk about a plan to reunite them?

If all this is is leaks that both schenn brothers have come up leafs discussions with those GMs then it's not much of a rumour - these would be names that i would expect the leafs to assess the market on tbh.

"Reuniting the schenn brothers" is actually an idea the toronto media has tried to push ever since we had drafted Luke.

EF did clarify its his opinion that this would fit the Leafs MO but did not say they were one of the two teams exploring this option

in the past the media screamed all year that we needed Foligno and we indeed ended up with Foligno and his moldy old Leafs cap. there's precedent here.

The Schenns rumour is far from the only rumour we've heard this year - based on rumours we're apparently getting half the league.

The "reuniting Schenns" thing also happens to be a) nonsensical management strategy; b) hard to figure out what kind of leak would make sense here; c) a weird hobby horse that's been fixated in the back of toronto media's minds for at least 15yrs now.

bugs me that otherwise smart leafs media still is under the impression that we are over the cap. to be clear - we aren't over the cap, and activating Krok wouldn't put us over the cap.

What it would do is put us over the 23 man roster limit, which could be solved by sending steeves back down or by putting patches on regular IR.

but cap isn't an issue.
