No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

The biggest most exciting thing might be Atlantic is much worse. You're as good as your opponents.

Points Pace by Division:

1. MET 91.9
2. ATL 91.1
3. CEN 90.1
4. PAC 88.0

don't be fooled by the increased competitiveness. The East is still much tougher than the West. The Atlantic is still very good. The Pacific still sucks balls.

EW

Goal Differential: 21.94 (6th) (115 GF, 93 GA)
xGoal Differential: 0.29 (17th) (115.65 xGF, 115.36 xGA)
Goal Differential above expected: 21.7 (n/a) (-0.65 goals above expected, -22.36 goals against above expected)

So their outperformance of xGF 5v5 is 100% goalies.

Nothing wrong with Moneypuck.

They also have the 4th best 5v5 sv% so even traditional stats say the goalies are elite 5v5.

According to NST, just because it's the only place that gives us the different danger categories.....

Total Against /60

#24 Shots
#8 Sv%
#11 Goals

Low Danger

#24 Shots
#10 Sv%
#12 Goals

Medium Danger

#23 Shots
#10 Sv%
#15 Goals

High Danger

#13 Shots
#12 Sv%
#13 goals

Similar good but not great goaltending in each category, but the Leafs are good at preventing high danger chances while allowing Medium and Low Danger chances.

Big night for the Atlantic last night. Now again the best division in hockey.

1. ATL 92.1pts pace
2. MET 91.6
3. CEN 89.7
4. PAC 87.4

I mean cowan/minten/grebs all profile better than an average late 1st right now.

Drumtown is debatable but he does have an appealing skillset to many gms and is probably still on track with the average late 1st.

But i think those pricepoints are pretty high for those two players. Schenn especially has to be with 50% retention to make it at all interesting.

Can't we find someone who isn't mid 30's with multiple years left. Laughton at 3M for this year and next may be more appealing then a. 5ppg schenn for another 3 years at 6.5

Schenn at 50% works for me i think, even though i don't like being on the hook until he's 36. Much more than 50% and it gets more annoying.

We might be able to see something about Laughton if we look at his performance since that trade a few weeks ago, because i think with Frost gone Laughton's been a fulltime C now. My sense is his production has dropped but that doesn't necessarily mean he's played poorly.

unrelated - Frost and Farabee aren't exactly ripping it up in calgary.

Isn’t there someone in that 28ish age range that is available? Moving a 1st rounder for a Mid 30s mid tier player seems kinda dumb.
28 year old Jake Evans can be had... he has been talked about and some feel that it could be done for a 2nd rounder. Add a B prospect to make it certain and then use Robertson and Minten for a better D upgrade.
Use Jarnkrok and keep Holmberg for cheaper money and same stats... plus holmberg might be able to grow into something better than Jarnkrok

I think if you ignore contract and trade cost Schenn makes the team better because he is a 20 goal center that is fine enough in 17 non sheltered mins a game. And he played like a Schenn. Which is obviously way better than Holmberg.

McMann-Schenn-Domi would be a fun line,

PS. I don't want Schenn... he doesn't have the offensive skillset any longer...

I would like Bjugstad... his offense isn't as great, but he had 45 points last year in phoenix. I suggest him because he could be had for a lot cheaper.

Domi could really be a big pest on that line.

NICK BJUGSTAD ($2.1M CAP HIT)

The 32-year-old centre has 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) across 51 games in 2024-25 with the Utah Hockey Club. The six-foot-five, 205-pound Bjugstad had three goals for the Edmonton Oilers during the 2023 playoffs. Utah is currently in a battle for the West's second wild-card berth with a group of teams that includes the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames
