OT: American Politics

Eh this was an impossibility and seemed ludicrous to even suggest just a couple months ago. The fact that this is even being discussed is crazy to me and he deserves some credit for bringing up the possibility of this happening.
Is it really being discussed?

I'm not sure Ben's math maths though.

Is it common knowledge that Joe Biden is too old to be President? Yeah. The media has been beating this shit out of this drum for a long time and between both them and now Joe's performance, it's obvious to most.

Is it also common knowledge that Donald Trump is the death of American democracy and a deeply dangerous, demented conman? Despite the media's best efforts to cover it as little as they can get away with....yeah, it absofuckinglutely is common knowledge

What happens on November 6? Joe still wins. When push comes to shove, more voters will be comfortable with a zombie Biden administration knowing that there is a presidential hand off to Kamala or whoever likely in the cards before the end of the term than they are with the end of Democracy. When you start seeing shit like "the end of our democracy" ranking in the top 1-2 issues on peoples minds in already wonky polling, believe it.

I firmly believe the numbers still favour him when it comes to actual elections but most specifically in suburban areas of PA, MI, WI. I get it though, it’s a terrifying margin.

This actually isn't true. Trump has been posting up a fucking storm since the debate and saying all sorts of shit. But he's doing it on Truth Social, and the media is choosing to ignore the insanity on Truth because they already have the grist they want for their ongoing narrative.

He's not self aware, he hasn't learned anything. The media is just ignoring him when it's convenient and amplifying him when it's convenient.
upon further reflection, dunno if I should blame the media for this (yeah, think so), or myself (nah, don't think so, cannot be expected to fucking monitor Truth Social).

so kinda disappointed the media continues to selectively focus on dumb shit and ignore stuff like this

I could even see Biden stepping down as being seen as noble and motivating dem voters to support the ticket even more.

but maybe not. it is a black woman after all.

This is the Kamala conundrum. If you pass her over, you piss off a strong dem voting block of black women.

But she probably struggles to win the election against Trump.

Maybe this wave of positivity for Kamala could actually be good for Joe, as some people might be less hesitant to vote for him if they approve of Kamala being there "just in case" something happens during the next 4 years.

If you ask most voters I suspect they will not believe Biden would last 4 more years. Rallying around Kamala is not a bad thing regardless of which direction they take. For many, a vote for Biden is a vote for Kamala anyway.
