OT: American Politics

That narrative is there regardless. And if someone replaces Biden, there will be an equally if not more damaging narrative (corrupt, black, used to be married to a horse, etc.)

Devil you know and all that.

Trump being the devil you already know too much about makes it easier to replace Biden

eh, the Biden team set most of, and agreed to the remaining, rules. that's a failure by them.

100%

What's done is done though. Have to plan for the next. Letting Trump gish gallop his way through without anyone bringing him back into our shared reality, while having mics on mute while he's speaking not letting Biden interject when it's obvious fantastic bullshit being spewed.

Muting mics sounds great in theory, but it then requires the moderator to actively engage in some level of active fact checking. If the moderator is unwilling to put themselves in a potentially adversarial position with one of the participants, it turns into a platform where they get to just spew fucking lies entirely unchallenged. One analysis I've seen claimed 602 Trump lies in a single debate. You're simply in an alternate dimension as a viewer at that point.

does it make a difference, though?....

Undecided voters didn't tune in to see if Trump would start telling the truth.

They did, however, tune in to see if Biden had the same energy as 2020.

I'm not sure Ben's math maths though.

Is it common knowledge that Joe Biden is too old to be President? Yeah. The media has been beating this shit out of this drum for a long time and between both them and now Joe's performance, it's obvious to most.

Is it also common knowledge that Donald Trump is the death of American democracy and a deeply dangerous, demented conman? Despite the media's best efforts to cover it as little as they can get away with....yeah, it absofuckinglutely is common knowledge

What happens on November 6? Joe still wins. When push comes to shove, more voters will be comfortable with a zombie Biden administration knowing that there is a presidential hand off to Kamala or whoever likely in the cards before the end of the term than they are with the end of Democracy. When you start seeing shit like "the end of our democracy" ranking in the top 1-2 issues on peoples minds in already wonky polling, believe it.

It's Biden ending democracy with his socialism though....

Eh, I don't think there are nearly as many "undecided" voters as we're led to believe.

One things for sure get ready for a whole lot of “I just don’t like her for some reason” type lines if we had Harris on the ticket.

Insert Lucille wink gif here.

By that reasoning there’s no real point in campaign strategy from here on in….just sit tight until November

Even if that were true…. you still need to get the vote out on election day… and that’s get harder to do when the most important thing about a candidate is their ability to do the job

And there are decided voters who simply can’t be bothered to fulfil their civic duty on any given day…. And with so many battle ground states appearing to be extremely tight, I don’t understand how you can be so complacent “aka Biden will be fine, he’s got this”

Nah, I think you're galaxy braining this mate (fwiw, I think Biden's handlers are too)

Trump lost bigly in 2020 for a reason, nothing real has changed since then except for Biden generating a fapworthy record to run on. Stop all the bullshit, stop acting like you have to beat Trump run on your record and basically ignore the noise.

The job isn't to attract new voters, you already shit pumped this guy by ~8 million votes once. It's just to make the same decided voters from 2020 get off of their couch in November.

The more everyone lets the noise take over, the most it benefits Trump.

And with so many battle ground states appearing to be extremely tight

Count me in the minority, but again I don't think they're as tight as the polling suggests for reasons I've spoken to before and that recent elections support the logic behind.

The mood in the country is not the same. (It never is) Even though I think Biden has had an incredible 4 years with great underlying metrics, people are reminded daily by their experiences that their purchasing power has been sapped and that they are losing ground on whatever hope they had in buying a home (or even renting a nice place)
