OT: American Politics

Its pretty funny cause its a bunch of ridiculous things, with some completely normal policy obectives in the middle:

"drill more oil, deport brown poeple"
"create more manufacturing jobs"
"fuck trans, and stop the deep state from attacking me"
"protect medicare and social security."

This is it for the USA as a democracy. The country that fought my entire life for democracy.

The impacts this will have on other countries will be enormous.
I am very happy where I am, but I think I'm prepared to hit Europe, maybe New Zealand if things go as sideways as they can.

With the normal policy objectives being obvious lies that are contrary to his actual policy document, Project 2025.

I have a bit of a theory. Curious to test it out on the FI crowd...

my theory is that people who actually watched the debate live are generally more concerned about Biden's ongoing candidacy than folks who did not.

zeke, you clearly watched live. curious about other folks.

I'll admit that I did not watch it live - I've seen some replays etc. but don't think that captures all of it. and am wondering if I am blissfully naive having not witnessed that display...

I did not watch it live but my position on this issue has always been the same, nobody over 70 should in this job.

having said that, Biden being old is not a good reason to elect a grifting scumbag wannabe dictator intent on overthrowing democracy.

who is also old, incidentally.

I watched the whole debate, and it was really bad. I will say the first 15-20 minutes were the worst, where Biden had a "deer in the headlights" look on his face and was pretty much incoherent, while Trump seemed energetic and on point.

However, as it went on Trump became more and more unhinged. Biden was never particularly good, but it was a lot of disjointed thoughts and stumbling over talking points. I think his debate team pumped him full of stats and he struggled to fit them into a coherent argument. We know the man has a stutter, and it was a struggle, but at the same time he mostly knew what he was talking about and trying to say. So ultimately it was a really bad performance, but some people are definitely overstating how "gone" he actually is.

Should also add that he had a cold, so in addition to everything else he sounded funny as well. Which as we all know, sucks when the stakes are high for a live performance, but at the same time happens to every single fucking person from time to time.

It is interesting seeing the before and after with younger presidents like Clinton. Job has to take years off your life.

I sure hope, like you all, that the intel agencies don't force Biden to step down. They are working overtime with their "leaks", though.
