At least so far, this isn’t really hitting me hard like it did in the immediate aftermath of 2016.
I guess it’s partly because I’ve viewed this result as an inevitability ever since Biden took office and time started inexorably ticking by without Trump being held to account in any real way for his attempted fascist overthrow of the government.
Another part is that any faith I had in humanity in general or in the future of human civilization died in the aftermath of 2016. I’ve already grieved that loss, and that faith or hope has never been recovered since.

Yeah, the fact that it was a pretty substantial win, it doesn't seem like there's any fuckery about. It's just a fact that the US is a damaged country, they'd rather vote for basically the worst person in the world because he gives them an excuse to be open about their intolerance. And a significant number of people fell into that. There's just not enough decent and sane people left. The Democrats didn't realize that, and assumed that sanity would prevail in the end.
Hopefully Trump bungles everything he tries to do, and can limit the global damage from this. The US internally is going to be messed up for generations. And the people voted for that, so yeah, it's really unfortunate for everyone who's going to get dragged down in this. But hopefully the problems stay internal, and don't cause irrevocable damage to the world.

Think women, same sex couples, minorities are pretty profoundly fucked down there. And definitely feel badly for women waking up this morning to the whale guy in charge of their health.

Ain't going to be any better for everybody else with Jr. in charge of anything remotely connected to health (eg., vaccines, etc.,)

Thinking about the time RFK Jr and his foundation were briefly able to con their way into having a lot of influence in the Samoan health care system and had great success stoking anti-vaccine sentiments in the country.
Within months, they had a major outbreak of the measles and 83 people—mostly children—were dead.
At the same time—Trump’s first term was littered with guys who jumped on his bandwagon early, kissed the ring and thought they’d wield real influence and power in Trump’s administration only to be cast aside on a whim.
A similar fate might await RFK. Especially since he’s a prime candidate to take some of the limelight away from Donnie, which is the cardinal sin for anyone in his orbit.

Yeah. All those groups are proper fucked. And anyone who’s trans or non-binary is in imminent danger. Can’t even imagine what they must be feeling.
And the other reality that American women will be waking up to is that, presuming there are elections in the future, the American electorate has made it pretty clear that a woman will never be elected as POTUS in any of our lifetimes.
