OT: American Politics

That's the beginning.

Next?

Time to get more curious about how to reach working class voters. How did bin din get so many more people out and to the polls? How and what did he do that was so successful that the camel couldn't do?
Doesn't matter now. The US isn't doing real elections anymore.

I'm not comparing anything. My comments were mostly intended to be confined to this forum, where contrary viewpoints - even completely moderate ones! - are aggressively berated and accompanied by personal attacks.

Even if you want to take it in a more general way, in my personal experience, keeping both psycho lefties and psycho righties out of it, and just limiting it to the regular folk that I interact with daily, conservatives are pretty reserved and don't engage much in political conversation because liberals are so ready to attack and pass judgment. If you're not with them, you're twisted, not right in the head, an enemy. They actually get angry if you aren't a Biden or Kamala supporter. I really don't see any similar reaction when it comes to regular moderate or conservative types when liberals express their views. Liberals can speak freely in front of moderates and conservatives, but moderates and conservatives can only speak among each other.
That's for good reason. Because the Democrats candidate believes in Representative democracy and the GOP candidate does not. You don't make accommodations for fascists and anyone who, after witnessing the last go-round, is still voting for Trump is a god damned fascist. You dont talk to fascists. You punch them in the face. And you sure as shit don't let them off the hook with "Hey, I'm just here for the tax cuts".

If you dont know how or why Trump was different from any other random Republican candidate then you're either willfully ignorant or the dumbest sack of grilled chicken sandwiches that ever lived.

Donald Trump is a fascist, full stop. Anyone who votes for him is a fascist, full stop. You dont "engage" with these people, you hang them for treason.

I think we’re all making the same mistakes we made in auditing the 2016’ loss….by looking too granularly at what did/didn’t cause her to lose.

It’s uninformed voters, it’s the economy stupid, and it’s deep rooted old timey sexism.

I just don’t think anything else comes remotely close to those three in terms of moving the needle……debating everything else is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
I also think it's a pointless exercise to pick apart strategy when there's nothing to prepare for going forward. There is nothing to be learned from this election if there arent going to be any future elections.

The bottom line is this: America had a chance, ONE chance, to repudiate fascism and America blew it. And because they blew it, the game is over. Elections are over. Democracy is over. MAGA is going to fix it so that they govern permanently and by fiat.

Yes, they will still hold "elections" just like every dictatorship has elections. And people will still march in the streets to protest. But nothing will ever change. The GOP will win every election and whatever is being protested will still happen as scheduled.

People will still go to work in the morning, they'll still go to the pub to have a beer and watch the game, but they will have no actual rights anymore, just privileges which can be revoked at a whim. The homeless will disappear, not because they all suddenly got jobs and homes but because they will be quietly "disappeared" along with anyone the State decides isn't being a team player.

It's known as "performative authoritarianism"; all the outward trappings of a normal society but in actual fact a fascist dictatorship. This is America now. Best get used to it.

How about not giving up before the battle even begins? Stop being such a fucking pussy. A lot of unexpected things can and will happen over the next few years.
The expected things are what should worry you. They have a plan this time. It's not going to be the Trump shit show where he runs around like a toddler with a pair of scissors. They have competent people in place now. They have a plan and they will be systematic in its implementation. And step 1 will be to render Congress impotent while concentrating power into the Executive branch. And when people protest it will go to the Supreme Court which will rubber stamp whatever the government wants.

There are no more guardrails. Within the first 100 days of the administration, Trump will have complete unchecked and uncheckable power. And there is no way to stop this from happening. America's last chance to do anything about it was yesterday. They blew it.

There will come a day in 2025 when millions of Americans will wake up and say “hey, I didn’t sign up for that”.

Yes you did, stupid.

The time to realize that burning your house to the ground is a bad idea is before you light the match, not when the house is burnt to the ground.

Yep.
"I never voted for a nationwide abortion ban"
"Why is there a massive disease outbreak at my kid's school?"
"Why did my nanny get hauled into a police station over the weekend when she did nothing wrong?"
"Why is my fruit so expensive?"

You voted for all of that.

Please take my name out yo fucking mouth. I did not do such a thing despite the backlash that came along with it.

But yes, the rest of your post is mostly true. And I agree that we'll all be fine in the end.
“We”. It’s easy to not be concerned about Canada being dragged into the New Gilead nonsense when you don’t have a vagina. Check your wives, sisters, girlfriends etc. We are not as ok with it because we have the most to lose.
