OT: American Politics

Qustion. Now that Mcdonald Dump is going to be President and regularly visiting foreign countries. Will a convicted felon be permitted entry into most countries. 🤔

People always say something awful is "probably not gonna happen" until it happens, at which point it's too fucking late to prevent it, isn't it?

This is a man who already tried to overthrow the government once before.

A lifelong conman with no scruples. He already decided to get rid of anyone trying to tell him the truth the last time, and will only surround himself with yes-men this time.

In a worst-case scenario, he's surrounded by sycophants, will likely have all branches of government, a potential army of brownshirts out there with millions of guns. And as we can see, millions of people like Fly Guy who cannot conceive of any possible scenario where they would even consider turning against the cult.

Can even the law stop him if in the end it goes to a compromised Supreme Court with 2 people he "owns" there already and 2 others who are already MAGA?

Everyone here is now staking their lives on an imminent and unavoidable American doomsday that sees a dictator take over after turning democracy to ash. It's just not a realistic take that warrants this level of hysteria.

The fact that it could happen is terrifying. That's why we were so adamant that he should never be allowed near power again.

That being said, let's hope it doesn't, obviously. He is not evil, and we can hope that at the age of 82 there'd no real reason for him to want or need to stay in the job for longer. These 4 years will continue to feed his narcissism and bank account, and this win means he got away with all his crimes yet again.

Also, I think his ego got completely out of control as president (happens to them all, but even worse for someone with this level of narcissism), and he couldn't accept the loss and having to give up the White House when he was sure he would win. It drove him nuts the last 4 years, but at least now he has some closure. Let's hope that it's enough.

There will definitely be elections in 2 years and hopefully the Dems can with the Senate and/or the House.
 
Anyways I think the dems should go all in on mayor Pete. He’s got charisma, he’s not afraid of confrontation or to pose differing views, he knows how to connect with people.

They need to look for those sorts of candidates, not Gavin newsomes.

mayor Pete is my all time favourite candidate

but might be too gay/intellectual for the dummy cohort....
