I said I'd love the same currency, easier immigration BETWEEN CANADA AND THE US, and easier travel between the countries (no customs or other bullshit).

Why would it be bad to have the Canadian dollar on parity with the US dollar permanently?
Why shouldn't it be easier for someone wanting to go to school, or get a job, or move to the other country?
Why would not having to deal with customs and other bullshit when flying be something that bothers you?

We would lose the ability to manage our own monetary system, so would be at the whim of the US Fed for things like interest rates and the like. If we had an economic slowdown, we would have no levers of our own to pull to correct it. That's the first among a bag of reasons...why doesn't everyone just use the US dollar? Because there are massive benefits to being able to print your own currency out of thin air if you can manage your economy effectively, which we do and will continue to.
Why should we have to cede our sovereignty for that? Anyone who wants to move, there are mechanisms to do so, go and do it. Leave us out of it.
What bullshit? Nexus card, Amex card, Global Entry kiosk. Short of someone picking you up at the fucking gate and giving you a piggyback ride to your fucking rental car I'm not sure how much easier you expect travel to be.

The US and Canada could not form an "EU" without Canada being dominated within it. The US would not give us equal say on how anything was run. The EU works as it does because power within the group is multi polar and the EU itself is set up to not allow the larger nations to dictate to the smaller nations. Smaller nations have veto power on all sorts of shit.
What you want cannot exist without Canada losing it's sovereignty, as has been stated a bunch of times now. But yes, bitch and moan about this place, the one fucking place on the internet that would actually try to patiently explain this shit to you instead of screaming anti semetic slurs at you.
