Idiots think that birthrate is about culture and not about economics. There is not special about old timey culture, it didn't generate the conditions for women to want to fire children out. The economics of one income being sufficient to for what was considered to be a comfortable life at the time was the main driver. We've seen this play out over the last 100 years in every country on the planet that has urbanized. Traditional rural life is cheap (also shit), and also requires a lot of physical/mechanical labour for you to not die. So having cheap hands available to sow seeds, brush horses, pick crops, etc is kind of necessary....so you have a bundle of kids.

If the modern urban economy was cheap enough that 1 salary could raise 3-4-5 kids comfortably, more people would do it.

If you’re a Maple MAGA, I imagine you’d interpret the 51st state shit as a generous invitation from God Emperor Trump, rather than a threat from a belligerent foreign leader.

I’d also imagine that the majority of Maple MAGA’s would love for Canada to take him up on that invitation.

There’s a form of social capital - it’s developed into a community where “owning the libs” is a binding, social good to be celebrated no matter how absurd or offensive the premise. e.g. They’re eating the cats. Ha ha, triggered lib!
