At the end of the day, Trump’s a bully and a mafioso-style wannabe strongman leader who has zero understanding of or appreciation for soft power, diplomacy or alliances/deals based on mutual benefit.

He’s going to keep trying to bully other countries into bending to his random and capricious whims. And the more success he has with that strategy, the more he’ll keep using it and escalating.

So the only thing to do with a bully is turn around and punch them hard square in the nose. That’s what Canada and as many other countries as possible need to be doing in response to these completely unjustified, weaponized tarriffs.
