Ronald Reagan in 1988 in a speech proclaiming that tariffs against Canada and Mexico are anti-America.

We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security and the entire free world. And we can celebrate their victory because today trade it's at the core of the alliance that secures peace and guarantees our freedom. It is the source of our prosperity and the path to an even brighter future for America."

The market and the companies in it can survive and even thrive in bad business environments. What no one can survive in though is a complete and utter lack of stability. All of these entities need to make decisions today that set themselves up for business environments they expect to exist 6-12-24+ months from now. That's fucking impossible in a Trump economy.
 
Hey listen buddy, America was at it's richest and most powerful back before indoor plumbing existed, average life expectancy was 44 yrs old and their greatest military victory was against themselves.
