OT: American Politics

Even if you know nothing about global affairs or the war in Ukraine, could anyone watch that shitshow of a performance from Trump and Vance and think it is projecting strength?
 
the "haters" only didn't go far enough to be fair.

i do think there will eventually (might be ages) where there's gonna be some revisionist history and the sympathizers/downplayers will try to pretend they never did.
 
None of this is surprising. Trump has been angling towards this type of exchange with Zelensky for a few weeks now to "justify" bailing on Ukraine. There was a bit of hope that some sort of a reasonable minerals deal would be the hook to get Transactional Donnie to buy in, but as soon as that extortion level deal was his response, this was inevitable.

The orders of US hardware are going to start to dry up, and the sound you hear is Europe starting the process of pounding wheelbarrows full of euros into building out their domestic military production capability. The damage to the US is going to be amazing on so many fucking levels. Soft power is cooked, an aligned group of democratic nations of equal economic power to the US is starting to knit together, top US exports are basically military hardware and culture. Good luck selling either going forward.
