OT: American Politics

people won't do shit until it hits them in real life unfortunately.
Walmart's egg prices were down today - checked a little while ago - averages across various packagings a buck and small change to a couple of bucks and large change; all had been unchanged since Feb 24. A few canned and frozen products are down a bit, too, maybe an average of, say, $0.38. So some folks are going to be placated for a bit. But when prices get jacked due to tariff realities kicking in, those same folks will scream and wonder wtf happened and why.

Some of the "kids" I talk to over a beer and game at my little pub bar are hyper aware of the times; others not so much, plus enamored of "Dotard." 🙄 Fortunately, politics mostly get checked at the door at this particular hangout, but it's interesting to note results of calm, soto voce conversations. (NB: If you're 49 or younger, I affectionately call you a "kid." 😘)

You cant have a crisis when most of the country doesn't know what that actually is and then shrug when it's explained to them. People are so civilly and politically illiterate that they don't even know why something that's happening is important.

At least when Watergate happened, most American citizens had a basic understanding of how government works and why what Nixon nd his minions did was important and a threat to democracy. Today, nobody knows and even fewer care. They won't know what they had until it's gone and then it will be too late.

We need to be guillotining these traitors now, because a year from now they'll be untouchable.
Also, confessing the crime on tape was helpful.

I am in no danger then..

Kind of a long read, and I give zero damns about his, apparently, tough times, but something about the old adage "when the chickens come home to roost. . ." tickles my funny bone.

A former Proud Boys leader was freed from a 17-year prison sentence by Trump. Then his problems began

"All they care about is having you on their show so they can sell their f***ing products and make money off of you and your story, and then as soon as you walk away, they forget all about you,” he says.

Yeah but Nixon tried to keep from having to surrender the tapes (much like Trump tried to keep the stolen top secret documents) Federal judges got involved and he wound up surrendering them because, as much of a crook as he was, Nixon was not a traitor and a Russian asset.

Trump was ordered to return those documents. He never did. They're still at Mar-a-Lago. And NOTHING has happened to him and nothing is going to happen to him. So when, not if, he ignores this latest court order, what happens? Nothing, because nothing ever happens to Trump. He is immune from consequences.
