You keep overestimating the average American. Most of them are, either by accident or design, dumber than a sack of shit, and over half of them don't even care that they are and have no desire to learn a damn thing.

This is how and why empires die. They get fat, bloated, and self-satisfied. They stop doing the work, assuming that things will just run by themselves. They become decadent, corrupt, and cynical. And then one day the whole rotten edifice collapses under the weight of its own hubris.

A very small percentage of people actually make things happen. The rest are roughly evenly divided between those who merely watch things happen and those who ask "What happened?" after it's too late to do anything.

America is a failed state. It's really as simple as that.
