I guess the idea here is that when there's a school shooting, armed police officers can't do anything about it. The situation requires armed teachers and janitors instead.

Honestly they are weaker now then at almost any time.. but the Gun fetishists don't care.. and the Republicans are scared of them.. Historically so are some Democrats and I'll assume that is still true..

All they'd need to do is mandate that gun owners get gun insurance that covers them for liability like they do with cars. The insurance industry would put the gun industry out of business overnight. Billy-Bob would have to buy insurance for every gun he owns. I doubt that he could afford to do that since he probably lives off of a disability cheque, Amazon doesn't deliver to his double-wide and Mountain Dew still costs money.

the founding fathers had no scruples about amending the constitution. Cut the balls right off the originalist bull. I don’t care what the second amendment says, certainly the founding fathers wouldn’t want the constitution to be the backbone of state sanctioned massacres of kids.

They don't even need to get rid of 2A, all they need to do is enforce a proper interpretation of it. At no point in the language of the Amendment does it say that every inbred hillbilly is entitled to own an arsenal of assault rifles. What it does talk about is a "well regulated" militia. Do you see anything "well regulated" about these yahoos? They can't regulate their own blood sugar, never mind anything else.
